Role Objective / Job Purpose
The role is primarily responsible for leading and managing Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions across Ingot & Wafer manufacturing operations. He/She will be responsible for ensuring product and process quality through effective implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS), customer quality requirements, process control, risk management, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional coordination to achieve quality, cost, delivery, and business objectives while maintaining compliance with applicable statutory and safety requirements.
Role & responsibilities
- Lead and manage Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (PQA), Final Quality Control (FQA), and Outgoing Quality Assurance activities across Ingot & Wafer manufacturing.
- Develop, implement, and continually improve Quality Management Systems (QMS), Control Plans, PFMEA, SOPs, Work Instructions, Inspection Standards, and Quality Procedures.
- Drive process capability improvement, yield enhancement, defect reduction, and cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction through structured quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead customer complaint management, 8D investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and ensure timely implementation and effectiveness of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and review key quality performance indicators including FPY, Yield, PPM, Customer Complaints, COPQ, Scrap, Rework, Audit Scores, and Process Capability (Cp/Cpk).
- Plan, conduct, and lead Internal Audits, Layered Process Audits (LPA), Product Audits, Supplier Audits, and support Customer and Certification Audits.
- Ensure effective implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Process Validation, and New Product Introduction (NPI) quality activities.
- Lead quality risk assessments and ensure compliance with customer specifications, ISO standards, IMS requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Production, Process, Maintenance, Engineering, SCM, R&D, and Cross Functional Teams (CFT) to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing performance.
- Review and approve quality reports, inspection records, deviation reports, management dashboards, and monthly KPI reports.
- Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, performance monitoring, and technical guidance for Engineers, Associate Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Inspectors.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, Digital Quality, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Company policies while promoting a strong quality culture throughout the organization.
Preferred candidate profile
Education / Qualification
Education / Qualification : Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent. A certification in Quality Management, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or Lead Auditor will be an added advantage
Experience
Experience: More than 8 years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control within medium or large manufacturing industries, with 23 years in a leadership role. Preference: Solar Manufacturing, Semiconductor, Electronics, Automotive, Glass, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Process Industries
Knowledge & Skill Set
- Thorough knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Quality Assurance, and Quality Control methodologies.
- Strong expertise in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, SPC, MSA, PPAP, CAPA, and 7 QC Tools.
- Expertise in Root Cause Analysis methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
- Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability (Cp/Cpk), Yield Improvement, Defect Analysis, and Data Analytics.
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001, IMS, customer-specific quality requirements, and documentation control systems.
- Hands-on experience with quality audits, customer audits, supplier quality management, process validation, and calibration systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, Minitab (preferred), and quality reporting/dashboard preparation.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, project management, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Operational Excellence principles.
- Strong focus on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery (SQCD), customer satisfaction, compliance, and business excellence.
