Job summary

Techjays is seeking an Infrastructure & Platform Operations Manager to own servers, virtualization, networks, and data center coordination. The role focuses on architecture, coordination, and keeping non-physical aspects running smoothly; strict SOC 2 controls apply.

You will manage Windows Server, AD/Entra ID, VMware, F5 BIG-IP migrations, DNS/TLS, and DR readiness, while coordinating with colocation partners and Finance on renewals and costs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Windows Server administration and Entra ID management including GPOs and LAPS.
• 4+ years of VMware vSphere/vCenter administration at multi-host scale.
• 3+ years coordinating with colocation/data center facility providers; contract/SLA management, not hands-on hardware.
• 2+ years enterprise network and firewall administration including VPN and load balancer platforms.
• Direct ownership of a backup and disaster recovery program with regular restore/DR tests (SOC 2 or similar).
• Experience with 24x7 on-call rotation for production infrastructure incidents.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Active Directory incl. Entra ID sync, GPOs, LAPS, and security groups.
• Manage VMware vSphere/vCenter environment across multiple hosts, including storage/vSAN.
• Plan hardware refresh cycles and capacity upgrades within budget.
• Coordinate with colocation provider on rack/power, notices, invoices, renewals, and destruction of retired hardware.
• Administer firewalls, VPN, and load balancing; migrate to F5 BIG-IP; maintain WAN routing to AWS/carries.
• Manage DNS, TLS certificates renewals for domains.
• Own backup and DR for infrastructure and VMs with annual DR test.
• Lead 24x7 on-call for infrastructure incidents and incident response.
• Handle vendor/licensing renewals and cost modeling with Finance.

About the Role

We are looking for an Infrastructure & Platform Operations Manager to own the servers, virtualization, network, and data center coordination that keep production infrastructure running day to day. Physical hardware work is handled directly by the colocation facility operator, so this role is about architecture, coordination, and keeping everything that isn't physical hands-on running cleanly - it is not an on-site role.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Active Directory, including Entra ID sync, GPOs, LAPS, and domain security groups.
• Operate and maintain the VMware vSphere and vCenter environment at multi-host scale, including storage, firmware, and vSAN.
• Plan and execute hardware refresh cycles and capacity upgrades within budget, including host and storage lifecycle decisions.
• Coordinate with the colocation facility on rack and power management, maintenance notices, invoice checks, contract and SLA renewals, and certified destruction of retired hardware under SOC 2 control requirements.
• Administer firewalls, VPN, and load balancing - including an in-progress migration to F5 BIG-IP - and maintain WAN routing to AWS and carrier circuits.
• Manage public DNS, domain renewals, and the recurring cycle of TLS and wildcard certificate renewals.
• Own backup and disaster recovery for infrastructure and virtual machines, including at least one DR restore test a year to satisfy SOC 2 requirements.
• Carry a 24x7 on-call rotation for infrastructure alerts and lead incident response for issues in this domain.
• Manage vendor and license renewals and cost modeling for infrastructure spend, working with Finance.

Must-Have Requirements

• 5+ years of Windows Server administration and Active Directory or Entra ID management, including GPOs and LAPS.
• 4+ years of VMware vSphere and vCenter administration at multi-host scale.
• 3+ years coordinating with a colocation or data center facility provider - contract and SLA management, not hands-on physical work.
• 2+ years of enterprise network and firewall administration, including VPN and load balancer platforms.
• Direct ownership of a backup and disaster recovery program, including running restore or DR tests in a SOC 2 or similarly regulated environment.
• Experience with a 24x7 on-call rotation for production infrastructure incidents.

Nice to Have

• AWS experience - VPC, ALB, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, and cost rightsizing - for hybrid on-prem and cloud environments.
• Experience with Cisco or FortiGate enterprise network hardware.
• DNS and TLS certificate management experience, including public zone records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, CAA).
• Scripting or automation experience for OS and patch management at scale.
• Experience with a prior data center or infrastructure migration (moving a workload from one facility or provider to another).
