Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced resource with strong expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) administration and Office 365 Global Administration to manage and optimize our Microsoft 365 tenant and Azure VDI environment. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and cloud security, along with a proactive approach to cross‑team collaboration. This role is also responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of IT services — including VDI performance, availability, and cost efficiency. The role involves managing a team, developing strategies to improve system and virtual desktop performance, and ensuring that IT systems and services align with business objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including host pool configuration, session host deployment/scaling, image management (custom golden images), and FSLogix profile container setup for user profile management.
• Monitor VDI performance, capacity, and cost optimization (auto‑scaling, reserved instances), and troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and session‑related issues to ensure high availability and optimal end‑user experience.
• Manage security and access controls for the VDI environment, including Conditional Access policies, RBAC, MFA integration, and patching/updates of session host images in line with organizational compliance standards.
• Expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and cloud security, with a proactive approach to collaboration across teams.
• Design and enforce Conditional Access Policies, Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Identity Management (PIM) to ensure secure and compliant access to cloud resources.
• Manage organization‑wide settings in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center including domains, service release preferences, organizational profile, and Microsoft 365 Groups policies.
• Configure and manage security features such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection (Sensitivity Labels), eDiscovery, Retention Policies, and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
• Assign and audit administrative roles across the tenant using Azure AD Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) and ensure adherence to least‑privilege principles for all delegated tasks.
• Proactively monitor Microsoft 365 service health, manage incident response, coordinate with Microsoft support, and lead root cause analysis for tenant‑wide issues or outages.
• Manage enterprise applications and integrations, ensuring proper permissions, security configurations, and seamless access across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
• Configure and manage Windows Autopilot for automating the deployment and configuration of Windows 10/11 devices, ensuring seamless provisioning, setup, and security compliance within the Microsoft 365 environment.
• Configure and manage Microsoft Intune for device enrollment, application deployment, and policy enforcement, ensuring secure access to corporate resources and compliance with organizational security standards.
• Provide leadership and oversight for the IT department. This involves IT Support, strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring the successful execution of departmental initiatives.
• Overseeing the management of multiple cloud platforms, including tasks related to procurement, licensing, and daily support.
• Overseeing the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure to ensure it meets performance standards and uptime requirements as specified in the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Handling Help Desk operations to ensure IT support is delivered promptly within SLA guidelines, tracking ticket assignments, and preparing performance reports.
• Collaborating with clients to understand their IT and compliance needs, ensuring that all recommendations are implemented on schedule and that compliance status remains consistently positive.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27701 and SOC 2 standards by implementing and maintaining privacy and security controls across Microsoft 365 services, including data protection, risk management, and audit practices, to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Overseeing the IT asset lifecycle, which includes planning and procurement, managing asset inventory, allocation, submission, coordination with vendors and suppliers, and the asset disposal process.
• Identify and eliminate security vulnerabilities with strategic solutions that increase data security.
• Management of system backups, archiving, and troubleshooting.
• Plan and manage the IT budget, making sure cost‑effective technology is in place.
• Train staff on new technologies and troubleshooting procedures.
• Manage IT staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance.
• Formulate IT policies and procedures to enforce system security and operational efficiency, regularly revising them in response to business needs and technological advancements.
• Lead IT project management, handling aspects such as project planning, resource allocation, risk assessment, and timeline tracking.
• Stay updated with industry trends, technological innovations, and best practices in IT operations, aiming to incorporate these insights into our IT strategy and operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Must Have Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field of study
• 10+ years of experience in Information Technology
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate.
• IT Service Management (ITSM): ITIL framework, ticketing systems (ServiceNow).
• Leadership & Team Management: Team leadership, communication, mentoring.
