The Junior Software Developer (Contract) position focuses on modernizing internal engineering software infrastructure and toolchains. Working out of Infineon’s Bangalore campus, this role focuses on transitioning legacy semiconductor development tools into OS-agnostic, cross-platform applications that run seamlessly on Linux, Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL2), and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Operations

• Tool Development & CLI Engineering: Design, write, maintain, and optimize backend tools and Command-Line Interfaces (CLIs) using Python and C++ to streamline complex engineering setups.
• Cross-Platform Engineering: Refactor legacy scripts and toolchains to ensure cross-compatibility across Linux and Windows (WSL2) by replacing hardcoded OS paths with dynamic environment variables.
• Data Interoperability & Serialization: Work with JSON, XML, and YAML serialization formats to standardize automated data exchange between simulation engines and EDA tools.
• CI/CD & Pipeline Automation: Develop automated validation scripts("linters") integrated into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to catch syntax errors, enforce coding standards, and safeguard code repositories.
• Developer Experience (DX) & UX: Improve internal software usability by implementing exception handling, readable error logs, and actionable “fix hints” for internal engineering teams.
• Unit Testing & System QA: Write comprehensive unit test cases and run automated stress-testing scripts to ensure software installation packages run reliably across varied computing environments.

Minimum Eligibility & Qualification Criteria

Academic Background

• Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics & Communication (ECE), or related disciplines.
• Experience Level: Recent graduates / entry-level candidates with 0 to 2 years of software engineering experience.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Programming Proficiency: Strong foundational coding skills in Python and/or C++.
• Command Line & OS: Comfort working with Linux terminals and Windows CLI environments.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Git (commit, branch, merge workflows) and basic understanding of CI/CD concepts.
• Data Structures & Formats: Working knowledge of configuration files and serialized data formats (JSON, YAML, XML).

Preferred / Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL / WSL2).

Compensation & Contract Terms

• Employment Model: Contractual engagement under a 3rd-party payroll partner, eligible for partner company benefits and Infineon campus access.
