Job summary

BorgWarner in India is seeking a seasoned procurement professional to manage indirect category sourcing for consumables and infrastructure across regional teams. You will build supplier networks, drive early sourcing initiatives, and ensure alignment with global category plans.

You will lead supplier evaluations, negotiate terms, monitor performance, and collaborate with engineering and PBU staff to optimize value streams while upholding ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Commercial etc or above.
• Proficient in English.
• 5+ years in indirect material sourcing.
• Experience with indirect consumables category infrastructure a plus.
• Global supplier base knowledge in automotive categories.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal and presentation, coaching & mentoring skills.
• Ethics and integrity in supplier relationships; proactive value stream focus.
• Ability to analyze supplier financials and assess manufacturing capability.
• Global perspective and solution-focused mindset.
• MS Excel, MS Word; SAP knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

This position is important to Indirect Category procurements like Consumables and Infrastructure . Identify/ acquire PBU/ Corporate regional business requirements Support early sourcing initiatives Qualify/ select/ approve suppliers for approved supplier list / PBU / Segment Review/ communicate category plan with PBU and GSM leadership in region Play key role in the “refresh” cycle of category plans Monitor supplier performance and reevaluate capabilities Create and monitor supplier assessment and development plans Develop plan to attain lowest upfront costs/ ideal Value Stream performance Build and maintain regional Supplier relationships for major cross PBU suppliers & lead cross-PBU negotiations as required Support the negotiation of corporate-wide supplier payment terms and Master Terms & Conditions with PBU support Promote cost management activities to ensure requirements are covered by cost standards and they are maintained and assure appropriate treatment of supplier-specific cost models Coordinate/ Lead regional Category activities Coordinate technical lead& supplier interface resources to continually develop supply base and understand regional market trends/changes Assure appropriate technical integration and leadership to: Communize specifications & parts Serve as engineering liaisons Demonstrate tech/product knowledge & “certify” buyers Engage with engineering and PBU staff to assure link & leverage, supply base optimization, and material communization Coach/ mentor PBU buyers on supplier relationships in line with the category plan.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Commercial etc or above
• Proficient in English
• 5 years or more of experience in indirect material sourcing
• Experience with indirect consumables category infrastructure will be a plus
• Extensive knowledge of global supplier base and manufacturing processes in related categories in Automotive applications
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal and presentation, coaching & mentoring skills
• Ability to manage supplier relationships with absolutes of ethics and integrity & experience working “up front” with suppliers to attain ideal value stream performance
• Skills to analyze supplier financial information and determine manufacturing capability from go to the spot assessment
• Global Perspective, Goal Oriented Problem Solving Skills
• Excellent computer skills such as MS Excel and Words. SAP will be a plus.
