Job summary

UltraTech Cement is seeking a capable Operations & Transport Planner to align dispatch plans with plant output and ensure vehicle availability through effective vendor management. The role involves managing MIS, budget vs actuals, cost controls, and SOPs across multiple plant locations in India, with focus on plant-level route optimization and fleet utilization.

The position emphasizes collaboration with marketing and cross-functional teams to meet depot/segment priorities, while ensuring safety

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Order Allocation to Vendors and execution of orders for plant.
• Track STO movements for plant.
• Control and monitor truck yard management system at the plant.
• Conduct Driver engagement activities at plant.
• Route mapping, find out alternative routes and freight and create a database w.r.t. toll master and availability of fleet (sector wise) for plant.
• Revisit leads in line with changes in road routes basis inputs received and validate leads with GPS feedback.
• Safety trainings at plant.
• Implement road safety standard inside Plant and Yard.
• Ensure deployment of fleet.
• Interface with marketing team to understand depot wise/segment wise priorities wrt plant.

Job Purpose

Align dispatch plan & Plant output, ensure vehicle availability with effective vendor management to meet requirements of each sector / segment.

Job Context & Major Challenges

UltraTech Cement is the largest cement manufacturer in India with an installed capacity of about 68 million tonnes. The company has production facilities in 17 locations spread across the country and has plans to grow further than acquisition and green field expansion. The UltraTech brand occupies a premium position with a market capitalization of Rs. 81438 crores. The Indian cement industry has a capacity of 409 million tonnes and a supply demand gap putting pressure of prices due to excess capacity. The market has strong regional players in each Zone and has strong brand competition. The role of Finance & Commercial includes managing Accounting, Finance & Commercial activities for the business. The function plays the role of a caretaker for the business and undertakes the responsibility of MIS, sensitivity analysis, exercising of internal controls, and cost and risk management. The function is also entrusted with the responsibility of designing and implementing business processes / SOPs and for other allied activities like P&B, Capex management, taxation, auditing, credit control and facilitating day to day operations of Marketing. The job holder shall be required to analyze the budget vs. actual fixed expenses periodically and also oversee service levels to vendors.
