Job summary

INFINX is seeking an E/M Surgery Medical Coder to review physician documentation and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers for surgical E/M services. The role requires ensuring compliance with AMA, CMS, and payer guidelines while supporting accurate reimbursement and reducing claim denials.

Responsibilities include analyzing surgical records across specialties such as Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, and more, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines to meet

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, or related healthcare field.
• Certification preferred: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze surgical patient records, office visits, consultations, hospital visits, and follow-up encounters.
• Assign accurate E/M CPT codes based on Medical Decision Making (MDM) and time-based coding guidelines.
• Apply appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, HCPCS codes, and modifiers.
• Code E/M services for surgical specialties such as General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT Surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery.
• Ensure documentation supports the selected E/M level.
• Identify and report documentation deficiencies to providers when clarification is required.
• Follow current AMA CPT and CMS E/M coding guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and commercial payer requirements.
• Review denied claims and assist in coding corrections when necessary.
• Meet productivity and quality standards established by the organization.
• Stay updated on annual coding guideline changes.
