Job summary

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) seeks an Ignition Engineer to drive SCADA/MES solutions across multiple sites in India. You will leverage Ignition Vision and Perspective to create dashboards, alarms, and historian data, while integrating PLCs and industrial networks. Strong Python and SQL skills, plus IoT tool familiarity, are essential. Travel to onsite projects will be required.

The role requires 5+ years in automation, teamwork, and independent working capabilities within a multi-functional environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer.
• Strong experience developing SCADA/MES apps using Ignition.
• Experience with Ignition Vision & Perspective modules.
• Good experience developing PLC & SCADA applications.
• Working experience with SQL and databases.
• Experience with Historian databases.
• Basic knowledge of Python.
• Hands-on with MQTT, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, etc.
• Strong teamwork in multi-function environments; able to work independently.
• Willing to travel to onsite as per project requirement.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Ignition-based SCADA/MES solutions.
• Integrate PLCs from Rockwell, Siemens, and other vendors.
• Develop dashboards with alarms and historian data.
• Work with database logging, tagging, and reporting.
• Implement IIoT networking and cyber security best practices.
• Collaborate across multi-site teams to deploy scalable architectures.

Role: Ignition Engineer

Location: Pune, Chennai, Mysore, Bangalore, Vadodara

Mandatory:

• Total 5+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer.
• Strong experience in developing SCADA/MES application using Ignition platform
• Strong experience of Ignition Vision & perspective modules.
• Good experience of developing PLC & SCADA applications
• Working experience of SQL or any other database.
• Experience of working with Historian database.
• Basic knowledge of python programming.
• Hands on experience in network protocols like MQTT, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, etc.
• Strong teamwork capabilities, operating in a multi-function environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues
• Ability to work independently
• Willing to travel to onsite as per project requirement

Added Advantage:

• Experience of developing PLC programs using Studio 5000, TIA portal
• Experience of Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc
• Experience in JavaScript programming language.

Knowledge of Azure/AWS.

• Hands on experience or interest in developing IoT application using ThingWorx or any other IoT tools/platform.
  Deep familiarity with Ignition (Vision, Perspective, Tags, Alarms, Historian):
  Experience installing, configuring, and developing in Ignition-including creating dashboards and handling core modules-is fundamental Scripting proficiency (Python / Jython): Writing modular scripts for gateway events, tag-change logic, and overall project logic is a key responsibility.
  

SQL and database management: Designing relational schemas, writing optimized queries, and managing data logging, reporting, and tag histories are crucial
PLC integration & communications:

Expertise with Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, GE PLCs using OPC-UA, MQTT, or REST for ingestion and control.
IIoT networking & cybersecurity: Understanding firewall configurations and secure data exchange in OT environments is important.
SCADA system architecture & deployment: Designing scalable, maintainable systems (including UDTs, templates, multi-site rollouts, FAT/SAT, and version control) is a core capability.
