Job Description

The ICU Registrar will be responsible for managing critically ill patients, supporting intensivist‑led treatment, monitoring clinical progress, coordinating ICU procedures, documenting care plans, and responding to emergencies. This requires MBBS or MD qualification, critical care knowledge, clinical decision‑making, teamwork, and strong coordination with ICU nurses, technicians, consultants, diagnostics, and support departments.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients admitted in ICU.
• Review vitals, ventilator status, investigations, fluid balance, medication response, and clinical progress.
• Assist intensivists and consultants during rounds, procedures, and treatment planning.
• Manage emergency situations, clinical deterioration, and ICU stabilization under protocols.
• Write ICU progress notes, orders, procedure notes, and handover documentation.
• Coordinate with ICU nurses, technicians, respiratory therapy, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy teams.
• Review lab, imaging, ABG, ECG, and other critical reports and escalates concerns promptly.
• Assist in central line, arterial line, intubation support, CPR, and ICU procedures as per competence.
• Communicate patient updates to consultants and relatives as per hospital policy.
• Ensure infection control, catheter care, ventilator care, and ICU safety compliance.
• Support admission, transfer, discharge, and referral coordination from ICU.
• Deliver disciplined, evidence‑based, and patient‑centered critical care support.
