Job summary

Acwa in Bengaluru is seeking a Hydraulic & Hydrology Expert to join our Renewables Engineering Design team. The role focuses on hydrologic and hydraulic studies, flood-risk assessment, drainage design and water management for wind, solar PV and BESS projects in India.

You will develop and apply hydraulic/hydrologic models (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM) and GIS-based analysis, prepare technical reports, and collaborate with EPC contractors and internal teams to deliver cost-effective, reliable design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required;Hydraulic/Hydrologic specialization preferred.
• Master's in Hydrology & Hydraulics, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Power/Utilities or renewables domains.
• Strong hands-on experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE 11/21, SWMM and ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies including rainfall, runoff, watercourse and groundwater assessments.
• Analyze design rainfall data and compute 10, 25, 50 and 100-year flood limits.
• Develop and apply hydraulic/hydrologic models using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE 11/21, SWMM.
• Design stormwater management, drainage and flood-control solutions for renewable energy projects.
• Perform site reconnaissance to assess hydraulic constraints and flood-risk factors using GIS and DEMs.
• Prepare technical reports, design recommendations and flood-depth maps.
• Review external designs and collaborate with EPC contractors, consultants and internal teams.
• Support project optimization with cost-effective designs and asset reliability.
• Contribute to environmental assessments and integrated water-management strategies.

Hydraulic & Hydrology Expert | Renewable Energy

We are looking for a Hydraulic & Hydrology Expert to join our Renewables Engineering Design team in Bangalore, India, supporting the development of Wind, Solar PV and BESS projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise across hydrologic and hydraulic studies, flood-risk assessment, drainage design and water management, while supporting the preparation and review of engineering design packages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies, including rainfall, runoff, watercourse and groundwater assessments.
• Analyze design rainfall data and calculate 10, 25, 50 and 100-year flood/inundation limits.
• Develop, calibrate and apply hydraulic/hydrologic models using tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and SWMM.
• Design stormwater management, drainage and flood-control solutions for renewable energy projects.
• Conduct site reconnaissance and assess hydraulic constraints and flood-risk factors using GIS and Digital Elevation Models (DEM).
• Prepare technical reports, design recommendations, drainage solutions and flood-depth maps.
• Review and validate external engineering designs and collaborate with EPC contractors, consultants, vendors and internal technical teams.
• Support project optimization by ensuring cost-effective designs, quality and long-term asset reliability.
• Contribute to environmental assessments and the integration of water-management strategies across projects.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Hydraulic/Hydrologic principles.
• Master's in Hydrology & Hydraulics, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, ideally within the Power & Utilities sector.
• Strong hands-on expertise in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE 11/21, SWMM and ArcGIS, together with hydraulic/hydrologic modelling, GIS and spatial analysis.
