Job summary

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is seeking an experienced engineer to lead program management and calibration for HEV and PHEV/REEV powertrains.

You will define project scope, coordinate with internal teams and suppliers, and drive calibration efforts from development through pre-homologation and on-road validation. The role focuses on vehicle-level control strategies, engine and HCU controls, battery management and torque/thermal optimization to enhance performance, efficiency and driveability, while

Qualifications

  • Calibration for drivability, OBD and emission calibration of Powertrain systems.
  • Functions and control algorithms such as state transition diagrams & conditions, torque control, thermal behavior estimations and management.
  • ECU/HCU software control systems, functional safety, cybersecurity, and battery management.
  • IC engine knowledge, electrical drives and automotive regulations related to powertrains.

Responsibilities

  • Program management of HEV, PHEV/REEV powertrains including calibration, evaluation, pre-homologation and on-road fleet validation.
  • Define and manage scope for HEV/PHEV powertrain development with objectives, deliverables and timelines.
  • Develop and optimize vehicle-level control strategies for HEV/PHEV systems to improve performance, efficiency and driveability.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, EMS/HCU partners and suppliers; track milestones and report progress.
  • Monitor future powertrain trends, regulations and industry standards to support strategic planning.

Job description

  • Program management of advanced and vehicle development projects involving HEV, PHEV/REEV powertrains, covering calibration, evaluation, pre-homologation activities, and on-road real-world fleet validation of control systems.
  • Definition and management of program scope for HEV, PHEV/REEV powertrain development, including objectives, deliverables, expected benefits, timelines, and project boundaries.
  • Development and optimization of vehicle-level control strategies for HEV, PHEV/REEV systems, encompassing engine controls, HCU controls, motor integration, and battery management to enhance overall performance, efficiency, and driveability.
  • Coordination and collaboration with internal cross-functional teams, EMS/HCU partners, and technology suppliers; monitoring project execution, tracking key milestones, and providing progress updates to management.
  • Continuous monitoring and analysis of future powertrain technology trends, regulatory developments, industry standards, and government policies to support strategic product planning and development.
COMPETENCY REQUIRMENTS TECHNICAL /FUNCTIONAL
  • Relevant work experience in Calibration for Drivability, OBD, Open calibration and Emission calibration of Powertrain system. (Gasoline ICE & Hybrid PT)
  • Relevant work experience in preparation of functions and Control algorithms such as State transition Diagram & Conditions, Torque control (Protection & restriction), Thermal behavior estimations & management, Vehicle Controls, functional safety, and cyber security.
  • Relevant work experience in ECU/HCU software control system / Functional safety / Cybersecurity/Battery Management system
  • Proficiency in know-how of IC Engine, Electrical drives & Automotive regulations related to powertrains, i.e. AIS, GTR.
  • Proficiency in know-how of EMS sub-systems, HCU sub system (including logics, function frame), CAN architecture & debugging.
  • Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Valid Driving License and satisfactory driving record.
