Job summary

APM Terminals within India seeks an HSSE professional to anchor the site team and lead all health, safety, security and environment activities across client site operations.

You will implement policies, conduct audits, training, and incident investigations, and develop ERP; collaborate with the business to ensure compliance with local regulations and Maersk Global HSSE processes.

Qualifications

• Diploma/BE in Electrical Engineering or BSc required.
• Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety is mandatory.
• Certifications in Electrical Safety or Fire Safety preferred.
• 3-4 years of industry experience with at least 2 years as HSSE professional.
• Fluency in English; local language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive Zero Incident HSE Programme by ensuring safe working practices and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Implement, monitor and maintain HSE policies and guidelines per defined strategy.
• Prepare and implement Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
• Develop site-specific safety inspections for Electrical and Fire Safety.
• Participate in periodic HSE Audits and reporting of statistics.
• Conduct site safety inspections on PPE use, tools, lifting equipment, etc.
• Provide periodic training for MHE operations, manual handling, driving, crane operation, PPE usage.
• Ensure near miss and hazard reporting per targets; participate in investigations.
• Develop toolbox talks for daily, weekly and monthly HSE reviews.
• Promote safety consciousness and engage with employees to improve performance.

To be the anchor of the HSSE team at a dedicated site/location, lead and manage all the HSSE related activities, the operations is mainly focused on client site operations for lead logistics, trucking activities, supply chain logistics

The incumbent will also be responsible for collaborating and advising the business on strategizing and implementing health, safety, security and environment protocols at the site under jurisdiction, in line with local statutory requirements as well as Maersk Global HSSE Processes and Requirements.

• Drive Zero Incident HSE Programme by ensuring safe working practices and identify/help in eliminating the unsafe conditions
• Implement, Monitor and Maintain the HSE related policies and guidelines in strict accordance with the defined HSE strategy
• Prepare and Implement Emergency Response Plans (ERP)
• Developing site specific Inspection checking and monitoring system for Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, etc.
• Participate in periodical HSE Audits
• Maintaining HSE statistics and provide project statistical information & reporting as and when required
• Conducting site safety inspections on appropriate use of PPE, upkeep of tools, tackles, lifting machines etc.
• Periodic training for Material handling, MHE operations, defensive driving, crane operation, pedestrian safety, use of PPE etc.
• Ensuring Near miss and hazards are reported as per required target
• Participating in incident / accident investigations
• Develop material for regular toolbox talks for daily, weekly and monthly HSE Review Meetings
• Promoting safety consciousness at site and regularly engage with employees for better safety performance during their work
• Implementation of safe packing practices

Who We Are Looking For

• 3-4 years of industry experience with minimum 2 years as an HSE Professional
• A strong passion for keeping our people safe.
• Knowledge and understanding of Electrical safety, Fire Safety systems.
• Having sound knowledge of local HSSE legislations, property and process design and operational requirements applicable to logistics industry including sustainable transportation
• Good understanding of risk management principles and application of barriers and critical controls
• Fluency in English and preference for local language spoken and written

Qualification

• Diploma or BE in Electrical Engineering preferred or any other Engineering or BSc.
• Must have Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety.
• Prefer Certification in Electrical Safety, Fire Safety.
