Job summary

Weekday in Bengaluru is seeking a hands-on recruiter/people operations generalist to support the founders and team leads. You will split time between talent acquisition and people operations, sourcing for Weekday's own roles and guiding new joiners through onboarding, payroll inputs, and policy questions.

You'll work closely with founders, own end-to-end onboarding, and help maintain HR records, attendance, and exit processes.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in recruiting, HR, or both; startup or agency recruiting experience is a strong plus.
• You've actually closed hires and moved candidates to joined.
• You're organised to a fault with letters, payroll inputs and documents.
• You communicate clearly and warmly, maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Source candidates and run outbound for Weekday's roles using the Weekday platform.
• Screen candidates, schedule interviews, gather feedback, and push decisions to closure.
• Run offers, background checks, and joining formalities; ensure day-one readiness.
• Own onboarding end-to-end: laptops, access, documents, buddy, first-week plan.
• Maintain HR records, attendance, leave, and payroll inputs monthly.
• Handle exits with proper handovers and exit conversations.
• Track hiring metrics and flag anomalies to leadership.

Weekday is an AI-native recruiting platform. We are backed by Y Combinator and Venture Highway (now General Catalyst). We have built the largest white-collar talent database in India and have built tools to run outbound recruiting campaigns to them.

About the role

We help hundreds of companies hire. This role is about hiring for ourselves — and looking after the people once they're here.

Your week will be roughly half talent acquisition and half people ops. One morning you're sourcing candidates for an ops role using the same database and outbound tools our customers pay for. That afternoon you're onboarding a new joiner, chasing payroll inputs, or sorting out a leave policy question nobody has asked before.

This is not a "post the JD and wait" recruiting job, and it's not an "HR admin in a back office" job. You will be close to the founders, you will see every hire we make, and you will be the person the team comes to when something people-related needs fixing.

What you'll actually do

On any given day you might be:

• Sourcing and running outbound to candidates for Weekday's own roles — ops, sales, customer success, engineering, interns — using the Weekday platform
• Screening candidates, scheduling interviews, collecting feedback from hiring managers, and pushing decisions to closure within days, not weeks
• Running offers, background checks, and joining formalities so nobody falls through the cracks between "yes" and day one
• Owning onboarding end-to-end: laptops, access, documents, buddy, first-week plan
• Keeping HR records, attendance, leave, and payroll inputs clean and on time every month
• Handling exits properly — full and final, handovers, and a real exit conversation
• Tracking hiring and people numbers (time to hire, offer acceptance, attrition) and flagging what's off

You'll be measured on whether things got done — well, and on time. Not on slides.

What we're looking for

• 1–3 years in recruiting, HR, or both. Startup or agency recruiting experience is a strong plus.
• You've actually closed hires — you know what it takes to move a candidate from "maybe" to "joined".
• You're organised to a fault. Offer letters, payroll inputs and documents don't slip on your watch.
• You communicate clearly and warmly, with candidates and with the team. You can have an awkward conversation without making it worse.
• You handle confidential information like it's confidential.
• You move fast and figure things out without a playbook — and when there's no process, you write one.
• You're comfortable with a Monday–Saturday pace and a small team where everyone pitches in.
