Movate is seeking a GIS Executive (POI Mapping, Navigation) in Hyderabad. The role focuses on POI production, data edits, and quality checks within client-driven guidelines to ensure timely delivery.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of GIS experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and familiarity with map data workflows. 2-way cab facility is available, and immediate joiners are preferred.

Job Description:

Summary:

• Execute GIS map data transactions and tickets in alignment with client-provided guidelines, ensuring adherence to defined SLAs and quality standards.
• Play a key role in POI (Point of Interest) production workflows by performing data edits, quality checks, and research-driven issue resolution.
• Contribute to continuous map data improvement by identifying opportunities, reporting tool bugs, and flagging process ambiguities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and respond to internal/external map user-reported issues through structured ticket management.
• Operate within established quality policies, procedures, and evolving specifications to maintain high standards of map data accuracy.

Roles and Responsibilities:

POI Production & Data Management:

• Perform GIS map data edits and updates using client-specific tools in accordance with defined procedures and specifications. Execute POI production tasks accurately and within stipulated timelines. Interpret and resolve issues reported by internal and external map users by understanding the customer problem.

Submitted via Tickets:

• Review and research map data requests to determine whether attributes require edits or updates, following prescribed research processes.

Quality Control & Compliance:

• Conduct quality checks on map data tickets as per established checklists and quality policies.
• Ensure compliance with POI quality policies and procedures, adapting to specification changes as they occur.
• Apply working knowledge of Point of Interest policies to validate and verify map data integrity.

Task Tracking & Reporting:

• Track and update progress on assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner within the designated work allocation or task management system- Maintain clear and consistent documentation of completed tasks, edits, and quality checks.

Process Improvement & Issue Escalation:

• Raise queries and seek guidance on assigned tasks that present contradictions or ambiguities in working specifications.
• Submit detailed bug reports for tool-related issues that do not perform as expected or present opportunities for functional improvement.
• Analyze map data to identify insights and propose opportunities for quality improvement.

Required Skills:

Technical Skills:

Hands-on experience in POI Production (Primary Skill):

• Proficiency in GIS map data editing and attribute management.
• Familiarity with client-specific GIS tools and map data platforms.
• Working knowledge of POI quality policies, procedures, and specifications.
• Ability to interpret map user-reported issues and perform structured research for resolution.

Functional Skills:

Understanding of Point of Interest (POI) data workflows and lifecycle

• Experience in ticket-based task management and SLA-driven execution
• Ability to perform quality checks using defined checklists and validation frameworks
• Analytical capability to review map data and identify discrepancies or improvement areas

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication for query escalation and reporting- Ability to adapt to frequent specification and process updates.
• Self-driven with a structured approach to task prioritization and time management- Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desired Skills:

Prior experience in POI Quality Control (QC) processes

• Exposure to additional map data platforms or GIS content providers
  Familiarity with spatial data formats such as Shapefile, GeoJSON, or KML
  Basic understanding of cartographic principles and map data standards
  Experience working in a BPO/KPO environment with SLA-based delivery models.

Domain / Industry- Geographic Information Systems (GIS):

• Map Data Production & Quality Control- Location Intelligence / Geospatial Services

Tools & Technologies:

Client-specific GIS editing and QC tools (Maps platform tools)

• Work allocation and ticket management systems

Additional Information:

Certifications (Good to Have):

• GIS certification from recognized platforms (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, Google Maps certifications)- Any relevant coursework or certification in Geospatial Analysis or Remote Sensing

Compliance / SOP Exposure:

• Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in map data production environments.
• Experience adhering to client-mandated quality guidelines and evolving specification documents.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geoinformatics, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
