Hindustan Platinum Pvt. Ltd. invites applications for a Metal Hedging Specialist responsible for ensuring 100% coverage of commodity hedging across BU PO/SO and acting as custodian of hedge book reconciliation.

The role involves assisting in metal trading and coordinating with internal and external counterparties. The incumbent will manage precious metal trading activities, monitor market movements, optimize hedge strategies, and ensure timely reporting, MTM, and RBI-compliant quarterly filings

Qualifications

• Experience in hedging and risk management for commodity trading.
• Knowledge of MTM, hedge accounting and reconciliation.
• Ability to coordinate with counterparties and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in RBI reporting as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage hedging activities for precious metals.
• Ensure price risk management of hedge contracts and exposure.
• Monitor commodity market movements and recommend hedging strategies.
• Coordinate with counterparties for MTM and hedging limits.
• Manage end-to-end hedging desk operations for precious metals.
• Execute back-to-back hedging for purchases and sales transactions.
• Ensure timely trade execution, confirmations, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Maintain accuracy between physical inventory and hedge positions.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external trading counterparties.
• Track all PGM commodity prices available in international exchanges and domestic exchanges and provide business on pricing overview.

Role Overview

The primary role to make sure all the commodity hedging for all BU PO/SO is covered 100% the role serve as the custodian of the organizations hedging, assisting in metal trading and ensuring hedge book reconciliation across precious metal business activities.

This hedging role extends for corporate business trading assisting to manager/lead trader. The incumbent will manage primarily precious metal trading activities.

Core Responsibilities

Metal Hedging

• Own and manage the organizations hedging activities for precious metals
• Ensure effective price risk management of all hedge contract and exposure
• Monitor commodity market movements and recommend hedging strategies
• Coordinate with counterparties for optimum MTM and hedging limits

Operations & Services

• Manage end-to-end hedging desk operations for precious metals
• Execute back-to-back hedging for purchases and sales transactions
• Ensure timely trade execution, confirmations, reconciliations, and reporting
• Maintain accuracy between physical inventory and hedge positions
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external trading counterparties
• Track all PGM commodity prices available in international exchanges and domestic exchanges and provide business on pricing overview.

Compliance & regulatory

• Optimize holding cost and calculate monthly MTM working and provide to accounting team
• All hedge backed by trade confirmation / statement are returned back to each counterparty within stipulated time.
• Prepare unhedged position working (UFCE) on quarterly basis within 30 days from quarter end and submit to head treasury for RBI reporting. Q4 quarterly report needs to be signed by statutory auditor.

Risk Management & Operational Controls

• Identify and monitor commodity price exposure risks
• Ensure robust controls over hedge accounting and inventory exposure
• Minimize operational and financial risks arising from hedging activities
• Maintain process documentation and operational transparency

Data, Reporting & Treasury Analytics

• Ensure accurate reporting of hedge positions, inventory exposure, and MTM
• Support lead trader for all corporate PGM trading activities and management reporting related to hedging and trading performance
• Monitor forward earnings, procurement margins, and exposure positions
• Enable data-driven decision-making through hedge book reconciliation.
