Position Summary
HG Infra Engineering Limited is seeking an experienced and dynamic taxation professional to lead the organization's direct and indirect tax functions. The role will be responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing tax litigation and assessments, optimizing tax positions, and providing strategic tax advisory support to business operations.
The incumbent will play a critical role in safeguarding the organization's interests by ensuring compliance with evolving tax regulations while supporting business growth, operational efficiency, and corporate governance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies aligned with the organization's business objectives.
- Provide strategic tax advisory support for new projects, business expansions, restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Identify opportunities for tax optimization while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Advise management on tax implications of key business decisions and transactions.
Direct Tax Management
- Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act provisions and applicable regulations.
- Oversee corporate tax planning, advance tax computation, tax provisioning, and annual tax filings.
- Review and monitor TDS compliance, tax deductions, and withholding tax obligations.
- Manage tax audits, assessments, notices, appeals, and litigation matters.
- Coordinate with tax consultants, legal advisors, and regulatory authorities.
Indirect Tax Management
- Lead GST compliance, return filings, reconciliations, and statutory reporting.
- Provide guidance on GST implications for EPC contracts, infrastructure projects, procurement, and subcontracting arrangements.
- Manage GST assessments, audits, investigations, notices, and litigation.
- Ensure optimization of input tax credits and compliance with GST regulations.
- Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and assess business impact.
Tax Litigation & Regulatory Matters
- Represent the organization before tax authorities, appellate forums, and regulatory bodies through internal teams and external advisors.
- Develop litigation strategies and monitor progress of ongoing cases.
- Review responses to notices, assessments, and tax disputes.
- Minimize tax exposure and financial risks through proactive case management.
Business Support & Advisory
- Partner with finance, commercial, procurement, legal, project, and business teams to provide tax guidance.
- Evaluate tax implications of contracts, tenders, transactions, and commercial arrangements.
- Support project teams in resolving taxation-related issues and disputes.
- Provide tax advisory inputs during business planning and decision-making processes.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory tax returns and disclosures.
- Strengthen tax governance, controls, and compliance frameworks across the organization.
- Drive automation and process improvements within the taxation function.
- Ensure readiness for statutory audits, internal audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the taxation team.
- Build organizational capability in taxation and regulatory compliance.
- Establish performance standards and drive continuous improvement within the function.
Tax Compliance
- 100% timely filing of direct and indirect tax returns.
- Zero significant non-compliance observations from authorities.
- Timely closure of statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Effective management of tax assessments, audits, and litigation.
- Reduction in tax exposures and contingent liabilities.
- Strong compliance and governance framework.
- Identification and implementation of tax optimization opportunities.
- Maximization of eligible tax credits and incentives.
- Effective tax planning aligned with business objectives.
Stakeholder Management
- Effective engagement with tax authorities, consultants, auditors, and business stakeholders.
- Timely resolution of taxation-related business issues.

Educational Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory.
- Additional qualification such as LLB, MBA (Finance), Diploma in Taxation, or equivalent will be preferred.
Experience
- 15–25 years of post-qualification experience in taxation.
- Extensive experience in Direct Tax, GST, Tax Planning, Assessments, Appeals, and Litigation Management.
- Experience in Infrastructure, EPC, Construction, Manufacturing, Energy, or large corporate organizations preferred.
- Proven experience managing complex taxation matters involving multi-location operations and large-scale projects.
