The role mandates strategic leadership to strengthen the product portfolio, technology roadmap, and engineering capabilities, and to drive new product development and industrialization across the lifecycle from concept to commercialization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience in R&D and product development within Capital Goods / Industrial Machinery.
• Experience leading large R&D teams and driving organizational transformation.
• Strong ability to translate market requirements into competitive products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the R&D and Technology Strategy in alignment with business objectives and market opportunities.
• Create and execute a forward-looking Product & Technology Roadmap.
• Lead the complete product development lifecycle from concept and design through validation, industrialization and commercialization.
• Drive new product development and continuous improvement of the existing portfolio.
• Strengthen product competitiveness across technology, performance, quality, reliability and cost.
• Drive Value Engineering, Design-to-Cost and product cost optimization.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and their application to the business.
• Strengthen NPD, NPI, validation, technology transfer and industrialization processes.
• Work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to translate market requirements into competitive products.
• Build and develop a high-performing R&D organization with strong technical and leadership capabilities.
• Partner with senior leadership on technology, product strategy and business transformation.

As the business evolves towards a more technology-led, innovation-driven and competitive organization, they are looking to appoint a seasoned Head – Research & Development to lead the R&D function for their machinery business.

This is a significant leadership role with the mandate to strengthen the organization's product portfolio, technology roadmap, engineering capabilities and new product development agenda, while supporting the business in its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities :

Education & Experience:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline. A postgraduate qualification in Engineering or Management would be an advantage.

Experience:

15+ years of relevant experience, with significant leadership exposure in R&D, Product Development, Engineering or Technology within Capital Goods / Industrial Machinery businesses.

What we're looking for :

Experience in product development and technology leadership within the industrial engineering environment. Relevant experience could include SPM, Processing Industry Machinery and Capital Goods / Industrial Machinery, including machinery, production systems, automation equipment and process equipment. The candidate should combine technical depth, business orientation, innovation capability, people leadership and strong execution, with a track record of building capabilities and driving product or organizational transformation.
