Job summary

CHN Technologies in [Location] is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day operations across multiple product lines, including mattresses and related items. The role focuses on planning, scheduling, and optimizing throughput while ensuring safety and quality on the shop floor.

The candidate should have a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Production disciplines with 5–7 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in textiles or discrete manufacturing.

• BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Textile / related discipline.
• MBA (Operations) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day production operations across all lines (mattresses, toppers, pillows, accessories as applicable).
• Plan and execute shift schedules, line loading, and changeovers to meet daily/weekly output targets.
• Monitor plant KPIs such as output, rejection rate, machine uptime, labor productivity, and line efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety norms, and statutory compliance at the shop floor.
• Develop monthly and weekly Master Production Plans based on sales forecasts, open orders, and inventory norms.
• Run capacity planning to balance demand versus available machines, manpower, and working hours; identify need for overtime or additional shifts.
• Schedule production orders for different SKUs, ensuring optimal sequencing to minimise setup time and changeover losses
• Track WIP at each stage, monitor adherence to plan, and proactively replan in case of demand or capacity changes.

Job description

Responsibilities

1. Production Management

• Own daytoday production operations across all lines (mattresses, toppers, pillows, accessories as applicable).
• Plan and execute shift schedules, line loading, and changeovers to meet daily/weekly output targets.
• Monitor plant KPIs such as output, rejection rate, machine uptime, labor productivity, and line efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety norms, and statutory compliance at the shop floor.

2. Production Planning & Control (PPC)

• Develop monthly and weekly Master Production Plans based on sales forecasts, open orders, and inventory norms.
• Run capacity planning to balance demand versus available machines, manpower, and working hours; identify need for overtime or additional shifts.
• Schedule production orders for different SKUs, ensuring optimal sequencing to minimise setup time and changeover losses
• Track WIP at each stage, monitor adherence to plan, and proactively replan in case of demand or capacity changes.

3. Material and Inventory Coordination

• Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of foam, fabric, springs, packaging, and other inputs as per MRP.
• Maintain optimal raw material and finished goods inventory, avoiding stockouts and excess/slowmoving inventory.
• Review BOM accuracy and consumption norms; drive material yield improvement and wastage reduction

4. Quality and Compliance

• Work closely with Quality team to ensure products meet defined specifications, comfort levels, and durability standards.
• Implement inprocess quality checks and final inspection protocols at critical stages (cutting, quilting, assembly, packing).
• Reduce rejections, rework, and customer complaints through rootcause analysis and corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and company policies on the shop floor.

5. Efficiency and Continuous Improvement

• Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, idle time, and efficiency gaps; implement improvement plans.
• Drive Lean / 5S / Kaizen initiatives to improve productivity, space utilisation, and workflow.
• Optimise mantomachine ratio, line layouts, and material flow to enhance throughput and reduce lead time
• Evaluate and recommend automation/technology investments (machines, ERP/MES) based on ROI and capacity needs

6. Team Leadership

• Lead Production and PPC teams comprising supervisors, engineers, planners, and operators.
• Set clear goals and KPIs for team members; monitor performance and provide coaching and feedback.
• Drive skill development through training on SOPs, quality standards, safety, and productivity tools.
• Foster a disciplined, accountable, and safetyconscious culture on the shop floor.

7. CrossFunctional Coordination

• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service for demand visibility, priority orders, and delivery commitments.
• Work with New Product Development / R&D and Marketing to plan trial runs, pilot batches, and smooth rampup of new SKUs.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to plan preventive maintenance and breakdown responses, minimizing impact on production plans.
• Provide regular MIS and dashboards to leadership on production, planning adherence, and key plant KPIs.

Required Qualifications

• Education: BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Textile / related discipline.
• Additional qualification in Operations / Industrial Engineering / MBA (Operations) preferred.
• Experience:
• 1015 years of total experience in manufacturing, with at least 5–7 years in a leadership role handling production and/or PPC.
• Experience in mattress, furniture, foam, textile, or similar discrete manufacturing with multiSKU environment preferred.
• Proven track record of delivering output, quality, and efficiency improvements.
