Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or MSc in Industrial Chemistry.
• 15–20 years of chemical manufacturing experience with leadership in Agro-Chemicals or API environments.
• Strong knowledge of Mass & Energy Balance, unit operations, PSM, and HAZOP.
• Proven leadership, crisis management, and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership of end-to-end production across multiple Agro and API campaigns.
• Optimize processes, improve yields, and reduce batch cycle times.
• Control costs by managing raw materials, solvents, and utilities.
• Provide high-level troubleshooting for complex organic synthesis and hazardous handling.
• Ensure cGMP compliance for APIs and ISO/regulatory audits.
• Plan resources to achieve zero downtime and maximize OEE.
• Lead 3–4 managers and oversee 3+ plants/networks.

Position Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Production Head to lead our integrated manufacturing operations for Agro-Chemicals (Pesticides, Herbicides) and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). With 15 to 20 years of hands‑on experience, you will be the driving force behind meeting production volumes while mastering the dual challenge of stringent API quality and high‑volume agro‑chemical efficiency. Your core focus will be on process intensification, cost optimization, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Manufacturing Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end production of multi-product plants, ensuring seamless transitions between Agro and API campaigns.
• Process Optimization & Scale-up: Audit existing chemical processes to identify bottlenecks. Implement advanced engineering solutions to improve yields and reduce batch cycle times.
• Cost Management: Execute aggressive cost-reduction strategies by optimizing raw material consumption (Specific Consumption), reducing solvent loss, and minimizing utility costs.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Provide high-level technical guidance for complex organic synthesis, high-pressure reactions, and hazardous chemical handling.
• Compliance & Quality: Ensure 100% adherence to cGMP (for APIs) and safety standards for Agro-chemical handling. Lead the team through successful ISO and regulatory audits.
• Resource Planning: Manage manpower, machinery, and material flow to ensure zero downtime and maximum equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• EHS & Sustainability: Enforce rigorous safety protocols for handling toxic/flammable materials and oversee efficient effluent management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education:
• B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering OR
• M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry.
• Experience: 15–20 years in chemical manufacturing, with a significant portion spent in a leadership role within a combined Agro-API or Fine Chemicals environment.
• Technical Expertise:
• Strong grip on Mass & Energy Balance and Chemical Unit Operations.
• Expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM) and HAZOP.
• Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, crisis management, and the ability to translate complex technical data into actionable business insights.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

1. Production Volume: Achievement of monthly/annual MT targets.

2. Cost Efficiency: Reduction in "Cost per Kg" of finished products.

3. Yield Improvement: Consistent enhancement of batch yields vs. theoretical standards.

4. Safety Record: Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and environmental compliance.

Key Pointers

• Batch Processing Experience – Strong hands‑on experience in batch manufacturing/process operations.
• Technical Manufacturing Experience – In-depth technical knowledge and experience in chemical/agrochemical manufacturing.
• Campaign-Based Production Experience – Proven experience in handling campaign-based products and manufacturing operations.
• Team Handling Capability – Experience in managing 3–4 Managers and a larger cross‑functional production team.
• Multi‑Plant Operations Experience – Experience of independently overseeing at least 3 manufacturing plants/units.
