Job summary

Esprit Stones Ltd. is seeking a seasoned formulation and process development specialist to advance our quartz and engineered stone products.

You will test and approve raw materials, develop cost-conscious formulations with strong shade accuracy, and prepare lab samples for production approval. You will correlate lab results with production settings, support trial runs, and coordinate with CNC and production teams to ensure machinability and stable edges.

Qualifications

• B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry, or Diploma/Degree in Ceramic, Polymer or Chemical Engineering (M.Sc Chemistry preferred).
• 6 to 10 years in product and formulation development and lab work in the building materials industry.
• Experience in engineered quartz, artificial stone or composite surfaces preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the quartz manufacturing process, press parameters and curing systems.
• Understanding of raw material chemistry (resins, pigments, fillers), CNC machining and slab finishing.
• Formulation costing, shade matching and colour science basics.
• Working knowledge of ERP and Excel/Google Sheets.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and cross-functional coordination skills, with team leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Test and approve raw materials (quartz, grain powder, resin, TiO, pigments, additives) and suggest corrective treatment or blending for borderline lots
• Develop and optimise formulations for cost, strength, surface finish and shade accuracy, with complete formula documentation
• Prepare lab samples matching master references and validate them before production approval
• Correlate lab parameters with production (press settings, mixing time, resin flow, curing) and support trial runs
• Coordinate with CNC and production teams to ensure designs are machinable, with stable edges
• Control shade and batch-to-batch consistency, set tolerance standards and reduce colour-related rejections
• Develop new quartz designs based on international brands, natural marble trends and market research
• Analyse defects (pinholes, resin marks, shade variation, low yield) and take proactive corrective action with QA and production
