Job summary

Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany is seeking a Workplace Solutions Lead in India to shape the digital foundation enabling smarter collaboration and confident delivery. You will own end-to-end delivery of a broad portfolio of digital workplace apps, spanning enterprise platforms, custom-built solutions, and vendor products.

Lead a multidisciplinary team, set engineering standards, and collaborate with Architecture, Cybersecurity, and IT teams to ensure secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on development experience.
• Proven technical leadership across app development, APIs, databases and integrations.
• Experience delivering enterprise applications across full lifecycle.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform; SharePoint, K2, or ServiceNow is a plus.
• Solid DevOps practices: source control, CI/CD, testing, secure development.
• Experience with AI-enabled applications or automation is an advantage.
• Effective people leadership, stakeholder management, vendor relationships.
• Ability to engage engineers and senior business/IT leaders with business value focus.

Your Role

As the Workplace Solutions Lead, you will shape the digital foundation that empowers people across the organization to work smarter, collaborate seamlessly, and deliver with confidence. You will own the end to end delivery and lifecycle management of a broad portfolio of digital workplace applications, spanning enterprise platforms, custom built solutions, and vendor provided products, from concept and design through deployment, operation, and retirement. You will provide technical leadership across application architecture, integrations, automation, and AI enabled solutions, setting engineering standards that ensure every solution is secure, scalable, and sustainable. Leading a multidisciplinary team of developers and solution specialists, you will translate complex business needs into measurable outcomes, drive portfolio prioritization and roadmaps, and collaborate closely with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and broader IT teams to ensure alignment with enterprise governance. This is a role for a technically grounded leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence and business impact.

Who You Are

• You bring a strong software engineering background, with hands on experience in application development and a solid command of modern software architecture and design principles.


• You have proven technical leadership experience across application development, APIs, databases, integrations, and software engineering practices.


• You have delivered and operated enterprise applications across their full lifecycle, and you are experienced in managing a portfolio of both internally developed and vendor provided solutions.


• You are familiar with Microsoft Power Platform or comparable development platforms; experience with SharePoint, K2, or ServiceNow is an advantage.


• You have a solid understanding of DevOps practices, source control, CI/CD pipelines, testing methodologies, and secure development standards.


• Experience with AI enabled applications, automation, or agentic workflows is an advantage.


• You are an effective people leader with a track record of developing technical talent, managing stakeholders, and building productive relationships with technology partners and vendors.


• You can engage credibly with both engineers and senior business and IT leaders, balancing technical depth with a clear focus on business value and outcomes.
