Role Description

The Head of Engineering Design (Mechanical) is a full-time, on-site role based in Navi Mumbai, responsible for leading the mechanical design function for specialized material handling equipment and related solutions. This role oversees end-to-end mechanical design activities, including concept development, detailed engineering, design reviews, and ensuring designs comply with safety, regulatory, and customer requirements. The position involves coordinating cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, procurement, and project management teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of engineering outputs. The Head of Engineering Design will guide and mentor design engineers, standardize design processes and documentation, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to innovation and product development. The role also includes active participation in client discussions, technical presentations, and support for proposals and tenders to align engineering solutions with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Strong team leadership and people management skills, including Team Management and Team Leadership, with experience in building and guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Engineering Management, with the ability to oversee mechanical design projects, allocate resources, and ensure alignment with technical and business goals.
• Solid Project Management capabilities to plan, track, and deliver multiple engineering design projects on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with Software Development or engineering software tools (e.g., CAD/CAE systems) to effectively collaborate with technical teams and leverage digital design workflows.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Extensive experience in mechanical design for industrial equipment, material handling systems, or related domains, including designing for manufacturability, reliability, and safety.
• Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges and trade-offs.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal stakeholders and external clients, including clear reporting and documentation.
• Experience
