Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Bengaluru seeks a senior leader to drive the Grid Academy strategy, building scalable learning journeys across the Energy and Utilities unit. You will lead key tracks for ADMS, DERMS, EMS, and GridOS, aligning curricula to real deployments and certification paths.

The role oversees courseware, labs, bootcamps, and vendor-aligned certifications while delivering high-impact training for engineers and consultants across projects.

Qualifications

• Deep domain expertise in Grid Control Systems and Utility IT/OT.
• Experience in setting up a corporate academy or CoE.
• Strong leadership in training delivery and competency frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management with business heads and delivery teams.
• Exceptional communication and mentoring capabilities.
• Familiarity with ADDIE, LMS and virtual simulation environments is a plus.
• Experience with Digital Grid deployments and related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic vision and blueprint for the Grid Academy.
• Design learning journeys for scalable capability across the TCS Energy and Utilities unit.
• Lead focus tracks for ADMS, DERMS, EMS, and GridOS architecture.
• Ensure curriculum matches real-world utility deployment, troubleshooting, and integration scenarios.
• Create training courseware, certification programs, and grid simulation labs.
• Drive bootcamps to upskill engineers, power system graduates, and consultants.
• Collaborate with Connected Services to identify skills gaps on active projects.
• Align Grid Academy courses with vendor certification pathways.
• Keep offerings updated with AI-driven grid optimization and DER orchestration.
• Track KPI and ROI of capability investments.

Required Technical Skill Set: Utility IT/OT Integration, ADMS, DERMS, EMS, GridOS, PowerOn, Grid Modernization, Power System Operations, Training & Capability Development, Instructional Design, Program Management

Desired Experience Range: 15-25 years

Desired Competencies:

Must-Have:

• Deep domain expertise in Grid Control Systems and Utility IT/OT landscapes. Knowledge of (ADMS, DERMS, EMS) preferred.
• Proven experience in setting up and scaling a corporate academy, learning center of excellence (CoE), or high-tech capability building program.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of driving technical training delivery, curriculum engineering, and competency framework definition.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills to collaborate with TCS business heads, delivery teams, and external partner ecosystems.
• Exceptional communication, mentoring, and talent enablement capabilities.

Good-to-Have:

• Familiarity with instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE), digital learning management systems (LMS), and virtual simulation environments (Grid Digital Twins).
• Prior experience working directly with or for Digital Grid or a leading utility implementing their solutions.
• Certifications in Project/Program Management (PMP, Prince2) or agile methodologies.

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role :

Academy Strategy & Governance

Define, establish, and execute the strategic vision and operational blueprint for the Grid Academy. Formulate structured learning journeys to build scalable capability across the TCS Energy and Utilities business unit.

Design and lead dedicated focus tracks for key products, including ADMS, DERMS, EMS, and the newer GridOS architecture. Ensure curriculum matches real-world utility deployment, troubleshooting, and integration scenarios

Oversee the creation of cutting-edge training courseware, certification programs, and hands-on sandbox environments. Build and manage "grid simulation labs" where engineers can run active grid scenarios on digital twin platforms.

Drive intensive bootcamp and upskilling initiatives to cross-train software engineers, power system graduates, and industry consultants. Continually supply delivery teams with high-caliber, billable, and certified grid modernization experts.

Partner closely with Connected Services delivery leaders and account executives to proactively identify skills gaps on active projects, supporting critical utility transition plans and strategic grid accounts.

Align TCS Grid Academy courses with official vendor certification pathways to ensure TCS consultants hold industry-recognized credentials.

Innovation & Technology Alignment

Keep the Academy's offerings perpetually updated with the latest technological shifts in the smart grid domain, such as AI-driven grid optimization, microgrid control, and advanced DER (Distributed Energy Resource) orchestration.

KPI & Metrics Management

Track and report on academy effectiveness, utilizing metrics such as certification completion rates, time-to-billability of trainees, training feedback scores, and ROI on capability investments.
