We are looking out for Head – Accounts and Finance for our client office at Ghatkopar (East) in Mumbai.

Role Description

The Accounts Head leads the finance and accounts function and is responsible for accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, taxation, budgeting, cash-flow management and strong internal controls. The role partners with senior management to provide financial insights that support business decisions and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Reporting

• – Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting and fixed assets.
• – Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing of books in accordance with Ind AS / applicable accounting standards.
• – Prepare and review financial statements, MIS reports and management dashboards for leadership.
• – Ensure accuracy of reconciliations, provisions and period-end adjustments.

2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

• – Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS/TCS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, Professional Tax and other applicable laws.
• – Oversee preparation and filing of tax returns, assessments and responses to departmental notices.
• – Manage compliance under the Companies Act, 2013, including ROC filings, in coordination with the company secretary / legal team.
• – Plan and manage tax strategy to optimise tax liability within the legal framework.

3. Audit & Internal Controls

• – Coordinate statutory, internal, tax and GST audits; ensure timely closure of audit observations.
• – Design, implement and monitor internal financial controls (IFC) and SOPs to safeguard company assets and prevent errors or fraud.
• – Ensure adherence to company policies, delegation of authority and approval matrices.

4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

• – Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process in collaboration with department heads.
• – Perform variance analysis, cost analysis and profitability analysis; recommend corrective actions.
• – Provide financial insights to support pricing, investment and strategic decisions.

5. Treasury & Cash-Flow Management

• – Manage cash flow, working capital, fund planning and banking relationships.
• – Monitor receivables and payables, vendor payments and collections to maintain healthy liquidity.
• – Support fundraising, loan documentation and investor or lender reporting as required.

6. Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• – Lead, mentor and develop the accounts and finance team; set goals and review performance.
• – Drive automation and process improvements through ERP / accounting software.
• – Coordinate closely with HR, Procurement, Sales, Legal and Operations on finance-related matters.

Qualifications & Experience

• – Chartered Accountant (CA) completed (mandatory).
• – Minimum 4 years of relevant post-qualification experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a team-leadership role.
• – Experience in a technology, services or similar organisation is preferred.
• – Additional qualifications such as DISA, CPA or an MBA (Finance) are an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• – In-depth knowledge of Indian accounting standards, GST, Income Tax, TDS and the Companies Act.
• – Strong command of ERP / accounting software (Tally, SAP, Zoho Books or similar) and advanced Excel.
• – Analytical mindset with strong financial-modelling and reporting skills.
• – Leadership, decision-making and stakeholder-management abilities.
