Job summary

GSK in Mumbai seeks an India Compliance Officer to partner with the India General Manager and leadership teams, embedding GSK’s culture and values. You will drive accountability, foster leadership, and enable competitive performance by managing enterprise risks and leading a high‑performing Compliance team.

You will guide risk management, governance, and compliance programs across India, ensuring proactive controls, investigations, and disciplined action in line with corporate standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, Finance, or a science discipline.
  • Significant management experience with direct team leadership in Pharma or related support functions, with expertise in compliance programs, risk management, and governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders to prevent compliance issues and maintain trust.
  • Strong advocacy skills and sound business judgment at senior levels in Pharma or related support functions, with a solid understanding of operational processes and technology concepts.
  • Proven track record of providing trusted advice and driving accountability with senior executives, including General Managers or equivalent leaders.
  • Strong organizational insight to identify compliance risks and align compliance activities with business objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of compliance programs, processes, and outcomes, backed by significant management experience across general medicine, vaccines, innovative portfolios (oncology and specialty care), and alliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the India Leadership Team and the APAC compliance Leadership Team, shaping country plans and bringing an enterprise risk and governance perspective into key decisions.
  • Influence business priorities, portfolio decisions by applying structured strategic thinking, strong business acumen, robust governance knowledge with deep understanding of the regulatory environment and corporate standards.
  • Foster proactive risk management culture and values‑based decision‑making, ensuring risk management ownership and robust governance frameworks in India are clear, effective and aligned to GSK’s Enterprise Risk and Compliance Framework.
  • Enable and encourage business leaders, peers and team members to proactively anticipate risks, design pragmatic controls, and upscale issues early with clear options and recommendations.
  • Facilitate the Risk Management and Compliance Board (RMCB) for India, ensuring risks are identified, prioritized and tracked through robust mitigation and remediation plans.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to embed fit‑for‑purpose compliance programs and systems to enable growth while managing risk effectively.
  • Partner with the investigations team and represent Compliance on the disciplinary committee, ensuring thorough investigations, sound disciplinary decisions, and systemic learning in line with GSK’s Code of Conduct.
  • Direct risk‑based independent business monitoring program and support audit and assurance programs across India, including third parties, ensuring root causes are identified and the business implements robust corrective and preventive actions to address issues.
  • Lead and/or support Data Privacy, Digital and Responsible AI compliance by applying GSK’s frameworks and relevant local governance committees.
  • Build and lead high‑performing compliance teams with clear goals, strong performance management, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
