Job summary

GMR Group is seeking a qualified C&I maintenance engineer to plan and execute maintenance of CI instruments and OT systems in a large power plant (>100MW). You will ensure reliability, reduce downtime and prevent spurious trips by following established maintenance procedures and calibration schedules.

The role requires 4–6 years of relevant experience in C&I maintenance, with exposure to SAP MM for spares procurement and a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

BE/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation or C&I.
4–6 years of relevant experience in CI systems and maintenance of power plants >100MW.
Postgraduate NPTI training preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain CI instruments and OT systems on shift basis.
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance of CI/OT systems.
Coordinate shutdown maintenance activities.
Manage spares and procurement through SAP MM.
Ensure safety with EHS standards and risk controls.
Drive continual improvement through CIP/SIP projects.

Job description

Job Purpose

To plan and execute the plant C&I maintenance activities with objective of continual operation, resulting in reduced equipment downtime and avoiding spurious tripping of equipment due to instrument signal failure/ malfunction. The job requires following the standard documented procedure for preventive maintenance, scheduled calibration activities, defect management for reliable and uninterrupted power generation & supply and ensure achievement of business targets, plant performance monitoring.

Key Accountabilities

Maintenance Management
- Execution of day to day maintenance of CI instruments and OT system of BTG area on a Shift Rota Basis
- Execution of corrective and preventive maintenance of CI instruments and OT system of BTG area
- Execution of Shutdown maintenance of CI instruments and OT system of BTG area
- Execution of Opportunity based maintenance of CI instruments and OT system of BTG area
- Completion of defect notifications
- Completion of preventive maintenance
- Completion of instruments calibration
- Timely completion of shutdown activities
- Availability of CI instruments and control room OT systems eg DCS PLC servers clients network switches panel infrastructures etc
Capability Building
- Proactive involvement in departmental projects other than routine jobs and learning new aspects both technically and behaviorally
- Number of Knowledge Sharing Sessions for associates technicians
- Attending Technical trainings conducted by external party
Spares Management
- Regular stock review
- Material procurement requisition through SAP MM module
- Zero Unavailability of instruments due to non availability of spares
- Identification of instrument repairing local vendors and instrument new spare procurement vendors
Safety Management
- Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards
- Motivating team members to ensure safety at the workplace
- Increasing awareness regarding safety and health among team members
- Tool box talk at site with technician and team members
- Number of accidents of CI team members and contract workers of CI area
- Near miss reporting
- Non compliance to use of PPE by CI work force
Continual Improvement
- Identifying areas of improvement in BOP BTG area
- Execution of identified CIP SIP in BOP BTG area
- Number of SIP or individual mini projects identified by CI department Age
- Execution and Achievement of goal for the identified SIP and mini projects implemented by CI department
EHS Attributes
- Well knowledge of OHSAS and EMS and QMS Integrated Management System and AMS system
- Knowledge of Onsite emergency preparedness plan and its implementation

- Detail knowledge and Conversant with Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Aspect Impact assessment methodology regarding ISMS EHS and asset Management

Ability to execute major activities in the Plant during the Capital / Annual Overhaul.

Relevant Experience
