Job summary

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead on‑market life science instrument engineering, including design changes, investigations, productivity initiatives, obsolescence management, and sustaining engineering. This position reports to the Site Leader at the India Development Center.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience with at least 3+ years of people or technical leadership.
• Experience leading global cross-functional teams and managing complex sustaining engineering.
• Strong background in electro-mechanical product design and change management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing Systems, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering team, providing technical direction, coaching, resource planning, and fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
• Own the sustaining engineering strategy and execution for electro‑mechanical devices, ensuring product reliability, manufacturability, regulatory compliance, business continuity, and lifecycle extension.
• Drive design change management and product lifecycle activities, including ECO/ECR execution, component obsolescence mitigation, supplier‑driven changes, cost reduction initiatives, value engineering, and quality improvements.
• Lead cross‑functional collaboration with Global R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Procurement and Service to resolve production and field issues, drive CAPA activities, and deliver sustainable product solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for engineering investigations and product improvements, including root cause analysis, risk assessments, design verification and performance evaluations.

The Hardware Engineering Manager is responsible for leading engineering activities for on‑market life science instruments, including design changes, investigations, productivity initiatives, obsolescence management, compliance updates, and sustaining engineering.

This position reports to the Site Leader and is part of the Instrument R&D organization at the India Development Center. The role provides on‑site leadership for hardware engineering and drives lifecycle management activities across the Beckman Coulter Life Science instrument portfolio.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience with at least 3+ years of people leadership or technical leadership experience managing engineering teams.
• Proven experience leading global cross‑functional teams and managing complex sustaining engineering.
• Strong background in Electro‑Mechanical product design, sustaining engineering, and change management.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Biotechnology or medical device industry experience
