Job summary

Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, a Danaher operating company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer I in Bengaluru. You will design, develop and troubleshoot PCB hardware for laboratory medical devices, ensuring EMI/EMC compliance and regulatory alignment.

You will own hardware development end-to-end and coordinate testing with global teams. The role requires 5+ years in medical/industrial PCB hardware, strong problem-solving skills, and expertise with Altium/OrCAD/PADS.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech and ME/MTech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 5+ years in medical or industrial PCB hardware development.
• Deep understanding of EMI/EMC standards and medical device regulations (IEC/FDA).
• Proficient in PCB design tools: Altium, OrCAD, PADS and simulation software.
• Experience with product lifecycle changes, design updates and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design Change and develop high-density, multi-layer PCBs with analog/digital/mixed-signal circuits for new products.
• Own hardware development from concept to release, including design verification and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate external EMC/safety testing and drive design updates based on test outcomes to ensure compliance.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing and field issues, perform feasibility studies and design reviews.

Senior Electrical Engineer I

The Senior Electrical Engineer I is responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting modules for laboratory medical devices. The incumbent practices best design practices and follow quality processes defined during development. This position reports to the Embedded Systems Manager - Life Cycle Management team and is part of the R&D Hardware/Systems Development team located in Bengaluru – BDC and will be an on-site role.

Responsibilities

• Design Change and develop high-density, multi-layer PCBs with analog/digital/mixed-signal circuits of Beckman Coulter Diagnostics new, on-market products and microcontroller-based subsystems.
• Own hardware development from concept to release, including design verification and risk mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and FDA Class I/II requirements by coordinating external EMC/safety testing and driving design updates based on test outcomes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product issues.
• Collaborate with cross function teams to resolve manufacturing and field issues, conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and design reviews and validate designs through analysis and testing.

Essential Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 5+ years of experience in medical or industrial-grade PCB hardware development.
• Deep understanding of EMI/EMC standards, IEC/FDA medical device regulations and come up with EMI EMC mitigation strategies.
• Proficient in PCB design tools (Altium, Or CAD, PADS) and simulation software.
• Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving, complex engineering investigations and competent in test plan and report writing Experience in product lifecycle management, Execution of Design changes and documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in medical device design & development with advanced certification in Electrical CAD tools is a plus
• Experience in IVD instrumentation, such as clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, urinalysis, molecular microbiology or flow cytometry systems is a plus
• Exposure to medical device design processes and quality systems.
• Exposure to BOM & PCB Manufacturing techniques
• Strong PCB Vendor communication skills
