Hardware Engineer – DMTS/SMTS/MTS/Principal Engineer
Seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to architect and deliver next-generation server, mobile, and HPC platforms across the full product lifecycle. The role leverages AI‑Enabled engineering for design space exploration, workload analysis, predictive validation, automated debug, and system performance optimization to enable faster development cycles and higher‑quality silicon/plans.
Key Responsibilities
End‑to‑End Ownership
- Own complete hardware lifecycle: architecture → schematic → PCB layout → bring‑up → validation → production
- Drive system‑level design decisions for complex hardware platforms
- Leverage AI‑Enabled or Agentic AI to design next‑generation solutions and drive efficiency
System Architecture & Design
- Architect multi‑layer, high‑speed PCBs, including partitioning, power domains, and signal topology
- Design and review systems involving FPGAs, SoCs, memory, and power management circuits
- Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability through rigorous design reviews
Memory & High‑Speed Interfaces
- Design and validate DDR5 / LPDDR memory subsystems (timing, topology, SI/PI compliance)
- Integrate high‑speed interfaces such as PCIe Gen4/5, USB, SATA, I²C, SPI, and UART
Bring‑Up, Validation & Debug
- Lead board bring‑up from initial power‑on to system‑level qualification
- Define validation strategies, test plans, and debug methodologies
- Drive root‑cause analysis across hardware, firmware, silicon, and PCB issues
- Perform advanced debug using oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers, JTAG, and power tools
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with SI/PI teams on signal integrity, stack‑up, and PDN design
- Collaborate with mechanical teams on thermal and form factor requirements
- Work with manufacturing and supply chain on DFM/DFT, BOM optimization, and production readiness
Technical Leadership
- Lead design reviews, milestone checkpoints, and architecture discussions
- Mentor engineers and drive best practices in hardware design and validation
Required Expertise
- 12+ years in hardware design for server, storage, networking, embedded, or HPC systems in an IC role
- Strong background in digital and mixed‑signal design
- Expertise in FPGAs, SoCs/microcontrollers, and power management (LDOs, buck/boost regulators)
- Deep understanding of PCB design, PDN, controlled impedance, and manufacturing processes
- Experience in hardware validation, bring‑up, and system debugging
- Familiarity with signal integrity considerations for high‑speed systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Proven track record of delivering production‑quality hardware platforms
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision plans
- Income protection for illness or injury
- Paid family leave, paid time‑off, and paid holidays
- Other benefit programs per the Micron Benefits Guide
