Role Overview
About Bytebeam

Bytebeam builds the hardware and software stacks that power the next generation of smart connected vehicles. From device telemetry and remote diagnostics to OTA updates, alerts, and fleet-scale device management, Bytebeam helps teams ship connected products faster and operate them reliably in the field.

At Bytebeam, hardware does not stop at schematics or layout. You will work close to firmware, validation, manufacturing, and the cloud. We care about what happens on the board, in the vehicle, in production, and after deployment.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Hardware Engineer to drive end-to-end development of embedded hardware for automotive telematics products.

This role is hands-on and system-level. You will work across requirement analysis, architecture understanding, PoC bring-up, schematic design, PCB development, debugging, validation support, vendor coordination, and design revisions. You will work closely with firmware, validation, manufacturing, and cloud teams to ship robust telematics hardware that survives real-world deployment.

What You’ll Do
Product and Architecture Development
  • Understand system requirements and translate them into board-level architecture and hardware design decisions.
  • Work on PoC and NPD setups using development boards and early prototypes.
  • Drive schematic design and PCB development for automotive telematics products.
  • Build hardware with a high bar for reliability, manufacturability, and field performance.
Design, Simulation, and Layout Review
  • Run analog and power-circuit simulations using tools such as LTspice or TINA-TI.
  • Review high-speed and mixed-signal layout decisions with attention to signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and component derating.
  • Own or review high-speed routing for interfaces such as DDR, eMMC, Ethernet, USB, and other performance-sensitive buses.
  • Carry out signal-integrity checks and design reviews for MPU-based systems before release.
Bring-up, Debug, and Hardware-Software Integration
  • Support board bring-up, power-on validation, interface testing, and system-level debugging.
  • Debug issues across analog, digital, power, RF, and communication subsystems.
  • Work closely with firmware teams on hardware-software integration and product functional testing.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for lab and field issues and close them with clear documentation.
Vendor, Manufacturing, and Design Change Ownership
  • Work with vendors on design reviews, antenna tuning, alternate component evaluation, and component lifecycle risks.
  • Coordinate with EMS and manufacturing partners on DFM, DFT, DFA, and production-readiness expectations.
  • Own design revision changes, documentation updates, and release-ready engineering records.
  • Support smooth transition from development builds to production hardware.
Deliverables You’ll Own
  • Schematics, design-review closure, and hardware release documentation
  • PCB review notes and layout-guideline closure
  • Board bring-up reports, debug notes, and RCA summaries
  • Vendor review notes, alternate-part evaluations, and manufacturability inputs
  • Design revision records and release-ready hardware documentation
Must-Have Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience in embedded hardware development for automotive telematics, automotive electronics, or rugged connected devices
  • Strong understanding of requirement analysis and the ability to translate system requirements into hardware architecture
  • Strong expertise in schematic design, PCB design review, board bring-up, and hardware debugging
  • Experience with MPU-based designs on platforms such as NXP i.MX and TI Sitara series
  • Good understanding of DDR RAM, eMMC, high-speed routing, signal integrity checks, and power integrity considerations
  • Strong depth in analog design, power circuits, stability analysis, EMI/EMC, and component derating
  • Experience with communication interfaces such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, RS-485, Ethernet, SDIO, USB, and related debug workflows
  • Experience with tools such as Altium Designer, LTspice, and TINA-TI
  • Ability to work closely with firmware teams for product functional testing and hardware-software integration
  • Experience working with vendors, antenna tuning workflows, EMS partners, and manufacturing-facing documentation
  • Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems across subsystem boundaries
Good-to-Have
  • Experience with MCU and AFE families such as NXP S32K, STM32, ESP32, Geehy, TI BQ769xx, or NXP MC3377x
  • Experience in EV, automotive, or IoT hardware products
  • Exposure to RF review, GNSS or cellular integrations, and telematics-device field behavior
  • Familiarity with validation, compliance, or reliability workflows in production hardware programs
Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who likes working close to the real system, not just one layer of it. You should be comfortable moving between architecture, schematics, layout review, bring-up, debugging, and manufacturing follow-through without losing sight of product reliability.

  • This role will fit someone who enjoys building real hardware, solving messy real-world problems, and shipping automotive telematics devices that work reliably in production.
