L&T Technology Services in Bengaluru is seeking a Power Electronics Hardware Engineer to develop high-voltage EV drivetrain electronics. The role covers hardware design, component selection, schematic development, PCB coordination, prototype bring-up, and system integration for 400 V and 800 V platforms.

The candidate should have strong fundamentals in power electronics, analog/digital circuits, and experience with HV EV systems.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of schematics, PCB design flow and component derating.

Responsibilities

  • Design hardware for 400V EV power electronics systems (MCU/Traction Inverter, PDU, OBC, DC-DC).
  • Select components (IGBT/SiC/MOSFET, gate drivers, capacitors) for HV applications.
  • Develop detailed schematics for power stages, sensing paths and protections.
  • Coordinate with PCB layout for high-current HV routing and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Prototype bring-up and system-level integration with other subsystems (motor, battery, BMS).

Job Description: Power Electronics Engineer – EV DrivetrainsLocation: BangaloreExperience: 3-10 yearsAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Power Electronics Hardware Engineer to support the development of high-voltage EV drivetrain electronics for our X-in-1 integrated powertrain systems. The role involves hardware design, component selection, schematic development, PCB design coordination, prototype bring-up, validation support, and system integration for 400 V and 800 V EV power electronics platforms.The engineer will work on key subsystems such as the Motor Control Unit/Inverter, PDU, On-Board Charger, DC-DC Converter, DC bus architecture, gate driver circuits, sensing circuits, power supplies, protection circuits, and system-level hardware integration.This role is suitable for candidates with strong fundamentals in power electronics hardware design, EV high-voltage systems, analog/digital circuits, semiconductor devices, and product development from concept to functional prototype.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop hardware for 400V EV power electronics systems including Motor Control Unit/Traction Inverter, Power Distribution Unit, On-Board Charger, DC-DC Converter, DC Bus interconnect architecture, X-in-1 system level integrationPerform detailed hardware architecture definition based on system requirements, vehicle requirements, power ratings, thermal limits, safety requirements, and packaging constraints.Select suitable components for high voltage EV applications, including IGBT/SiC/MOSFET, Gate Drivers, DC Link Capacitors, Sensors, Sensing circuits, contactors, fuses, magnetics, EMI/EMC filters, Busbars, etcCarry out component derating analysis and prepare design calculationsDevelop detailed schematics for power stages, gate drivers, sensing paths, auxiliary power supplies, protections, control cards, comm interfaces, HVIL and safety circuitsWork closely with PCB layout engineers for – high current layout, high voltage creepage and clearance, loop optimisations, EMI-EMC sensitive routing, isolation barriers, vias and copper balancing, groundings, etc.Carry out functional bring-up of prototype hardware boards and complete EV power electronics systems.Perform board level and subsystem level testing.Support integration testing with motor, gearbox, battery simulator, dyne, vehicle controller and BMS.Support integration of MCU, PDU, OBC, DC-DC, motor, gearbox, cooling system and control electronics into a compact X-in-1 EV drivetrain system.Support design reviews, schematic reviews, PCB reviews, prototype reviews and customer/OEM technical discussions.Coordinate with mechanical, thermal, software, motor, gearbox and vehicle integration teams.EligibilityTotal experience – 3 to 5 years in power electronics hardware design, preferably in EV, automotive, industrial drives, chargers, DC-DC converters, motor controllers or high-voltage systems.M.E. / M.Tech in Power Electronics and Drives.The candidate should have knowledge of power electronics fundamentals, HV EV systems, components selection, magnetics design, schematics designs, thermal and electrical derating, EMI EMC design basicDesired SkillsUnderstanding of automotive development processesExperience working with suppliers, semiconductor vendors and PCB manufacturersHands-on approach to hardware bring-up and debuggingWillingness to work in fast-paced EV product development environmentsL&T Company Overview / About Us:L&T is a USD 30 billion Indian multinational engaged in EPC Projects, Hi-Tech Manufacturing, and Services, operating across multiple geographies.
