Job summary

Jubilant Ingrevia Limited, a global life sciences leader, is seeking a Group Leader – Pharma CDMO to lead a team of scientists in route scouting, development, scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization of APIs and intermediates for global CDMO customers.

The role emphasizes driving innovation, timely project execution, regulatory compliance, and safe, efficient manufacturing processes within a collaborative cross-functional environment at the corporate office in India.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry or related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in Pharma CDMO, API or fine chemical process development.
• Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, scale-up and process optimization.
• Experience leading scientific teams and managing multiple projects.
• Excellent communication, documentation and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D for pharma APIs and intermediates project scope and timelines.
• Drive route scouting, non-infringing route development, process optimization and cost reduction.
• Identify critical process parameters and establish robust, scalable manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot complex synthetic challenges and process issues.
• Support impurity profiling, control strategy development and specifications.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with Analytical, IP, QA, EHS, Procurement, BD and Manufacturing teams.

Job Summary

The Group Leader - Pharma CDMO will lead a team of scientists involved in route scouting, process development, scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization of pharmaceutical APIs & intermediates and specialty ingredients for global CDMO customers. The role involves driving innovation, ensuring timely project execution, supporting customer interactions, maintaining regulatory and safety compliance, and delivering commercially viable manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead process research and development activities for pharmaceutical APIs and intermediates.
• Drive route scouting, non-infringing route development, process optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Identify critical process parameters and establish robust, scalable manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot complex synthetic challenges and process-related issues.
• Support impurity profiling, control strategy development, and specification setting.
• Manage multiple CDMO projects from feasibility assessment to commercialization.
• Ensure RfP, feasibility study, sample delivery, and project milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular technical updates to management and customers.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with Analytical, IP, QA, EHS, Procurement, Business Development, and Manufacturing teams.
• Manage multiple CDMO projects from feasibility assessment to commercialization.
• Ensure feasibility study, sample delivery, and project milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular technical updates to management and customers.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with Analytical, IP, QA, EHS, Procurement, Business Development, TAC and Manufacturing teams.
• Support process validation, engineering batches, and plant troubleshooting.
• Prepare technology transfer packages, batch manufacturing records, and process reports.
• Participate in plant campaigns and commissioning activities when required.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Research Associates, Senior Research Associates, Research Scientists, and Senior Research Scientists.
• Ensure effective project allocation and resource utilization.
• Drive a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Support talent development, succession planning, and capability building within the team.
• Maintain¿GLP-compliant documentation¿and ensure lab safety and organization.
• Promote safe handling of hazardous chemicals and high-risk reactions.
• Ensure proper documentation in ELN and other digital systems.
• Promote ELN utilization, data integrity, automation, and AI-enabled tools.

The Person

Qualifications:

• M.Sc./Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry or related discipline or related discipline
• 12+ years of relevant experience in Pharma CDMO, API or Fine Chemical process development
• Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, scale-up, and process optimization.
• Experience in pilot plant operations, scale-up processes and commercial manufacturing support.
• Proven experience in leading scientific teams and managing multiple projects.
