Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to drive primary engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS substation projects. You will handle layouts, grounding, lightning, cable routings, and equipment data sheets with international IEC/IEEE standards.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, strong CAD skills (BIM, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit), and excellent English communication. Independent, proactive, and collaborative across teams and countries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in CAD tools: BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation/AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IEC standards and substations tendering & project engineering.
• Excellent English, strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects/processes with limited supervision.

• Contribute to technical data sheets verification of primary equipment.
• Provide vendor evaluations and FAT/SAT as needed.

The Opportunity

Responsibilities may include Managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision. Coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• You will be in Primary Engineering Deliverables. Experience in handling complete Engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, Exposure to International experience & Standards IEC, IEEE & AS.
• You will be substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Cable tray routings, Clearance drawings.
• To Understanding of auxiliary design aspects of substations, such as LVAC / LVDC supplies, Cable sizing, Battery & Battery Charger Sizing, etc.
• You will be contributing in technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc.
• You will offer Vendor Evaluations, FAT / SAT of primary equipment, system as and when needed.
• To provide technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort.
• To Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system & follow Opex initiatives.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Required bachelors in Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in required CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence).
• Knowledge of relevant international standards ex. IEEE, IEC etc. and in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).
• You will be Individual contributors using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.
• Works independently, applying established standards, Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization, team player, ready to play the role across the different countries.
• Excellent English speaker, good communication skills.
