Job summary

Believe is seeking a GL Accountant based in Mumbai to support general ledger accounting and monthly closings for its French entities.

You will maintain ledgers, post journal entries, perform reconciliations, intercompany balance checks, and prepare schedules for the France team while ensuring accuracy and timelines.

This role offers collaboration with cross-border auditors and a focus on process improvements, controls, and knowledge transfer between Mumbai and Paris teams.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's in Finance or similar field.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Ability to prepare reconciliations and supporting documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts with proper documentation.
• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals and prepayments.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Carry out month-end and year-end closing within deadlines.
• Maintain fixed asset records and related entries.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and resolve differences.
• Review account movements and explain variances.
• Prepare reporting schedules for the France accounting team.
• Support audits with reconciliations and documentation.
• Apply accounting policies and internal controls; escalate issues.
• Document procedures and transfer knowledge between teams.
• Identify process improvements to strengthen controls and automate tasks.

Job Description

Based in Mumbai, the GL Accountant will support the general ledger accounting and financial closing activities of French entities, working closely with the France accounting team to ensure accurate accounting records and timely reporting.

• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other closing adjustments.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and follow up on outstanding items.
• Carry out month‑end and year‑end closing activities within agreed deadlines.
• Maintain fixed asset records and prepare related accounting entries.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and coordinate with the relevant teams to resolve differences.
• Review account movements and provide explanations for significant variances.
• Prepare reporting schedules and supporting documentation for the France accounting team.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested reconciliations and documentation.
• Apply accounting policies and internal controls, escalating issues when necessary.
• Document accounting procedures and support knowledge transfer between the France and Mumbai teams.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls and automate recurring tasks.
