Job description

The GI Surgeon will be responsible for managing gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopy, minimal access surgery, emergency abdominal cases, and post-operative care across Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, or Hyderabad locations. This requires MBBS, MS General Surgery, and MCh Surgical Gastroenterology qualification with 1–4 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and colorectal surgical conditions.
• Plan and perform GI surgeries based on diagnosis, imaging, and clinical condition.
• Manage acute abdomen, intestinal obstruction, GI bleeding, perforation, and surgical emergencies.
• Perform or assist in laparoscopic and minimal access GI surgical procedures.
• Coordinate with gastroenterology, anesthesia, ICU, radiology, pathology, nursing, and nutrition teams.
• Monitor post-operative recovery, wound healing, drains, nutrition, and complications.
• Maintain operative notes, consent forms, clinical records, and discharge summaries.
• Counsel patients regarding surgery, risks, recovery, diet, and follow-up.
• Follow surgical safety checklist, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and teaching activities.
• Maintain ethical, evidence-based, and patient-centered surgical practice.
