Job summary

Xylem is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support design and development of mechanical components for pumps and water technology products. You will create 2D drawings and 3D models in Creo, modify drawings, and ensure GD&T and BOM accuracy in ERP/PLM environments.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 0-1 year of experience in design, with exposure to CAD tools and manufacturing processes; strong analytical skills and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, casting, machining, welding, and fabrication.
• Exposure to engineering drawings and GD&T concepts.
• Exposure in CAD software, preferably Creo & AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with BOM creation and engineering documentation.
• Basic knowledge of heat exchangers, air separators, and pressure tanks is required.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems used in pumps, and water technology products.
• Prepare and modify 2D drawings and 3D models using Creo and other CAD tools.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with company standards.
• Interpret customer specifications, engineering requirements, and industry standards.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) within ERP systems.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to engineering drawings.
• Participate in product validation, prototype evaluations, and design reviews.
• Support engineering change requests and product improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, operations, quality, and global engineering teams to ensure successful product execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education, Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from recognized university 0-1 years of experience in a Mechanical Design role.
• Internship or academic project experience related to mechanical design, CAD, pumps, fluid systems, or product development will be an advantage.

Required knowledge, skill & abilities:

• Familiarity with ASME codes would be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of ERP and PLM systems is desirable.
