Job summary

Sweco is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in rock engineering to join our team in Bengaluru or Gurgaon. You will interpret ground investigation data, characterise rock mass, perform analyses, and produce 2D drawings and 3D models for rock support.

Work closely with project teams in Sweden and India to deliver high‑quality design documentation. The role requires a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, 3–6 years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and rock

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related discipline with specialization in rock engineering.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in rock engineering or geotechnical design.
• Familiarity with Swedish standards and Eurocodes.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Experience with rock engineering/modelling software (Dips, Swedge, Unwedge, Leapfrog, 3D Rock Slope) is an advantage.
• Strong report-writing and English communication skills.
• Team-oriented with ability to work independently when required.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret ground investigation reports, drawings, core data and rock mass characterization.
• Perform rock engineering calculations for slopes, excavations, foundations and underground openings.
• Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models for rock support and geotechnical structures.
• Develop design details for rock bolts, nails, shotcrete, and related support measures.
• Contribute to technical reports, design documentation and client deliverables.
• Coordinate with designers, PMs and geotechnical engineers across locations (Sweden/India).
• Support quality control and technical review during design and documentation phases.
• Ensure delivery aligns with project requirements, timelines and budgets.

Job description

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in rock engineering to join our team in Gurgaon / Bangalore and support international Nordic / European projects. The role will involve interpretation of ground investigation data, rock mass characterisation, engineering analysis, 2D drafting, and 3D modelling. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, designers, and geotechnical engineers in Sweden and India to deliver high-quality design documentation in line with project requirements and applicable standards.

Qualification

WORK TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and interpret ground investigation reports, drawings, core recovery data, and rock mass characterization information.
• Perform rock engineering calculations, including stability and stress analyses for slopes, excavations, foundations, and underground openings.
• Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models for rock support and related geotechnical structures.
• Develop design details for systems such as rock bolts, nails, shotcrete, and other support measures.
• Contribute to technical reports, design documentation, and client deliverables.
• Coordinate with designers, project managers, and geotechnical engineers across Sweden, India, and other project locations.
• Support quality control and technical review during design and documentation phases.
• Ensure work is delivered in accordance with project requirements, agreed timelines, budgets, and relevant standards.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline with specialization in rock engineering.
• Minimum 3–6 years of experience in rock engineering or geotechnical design.
• Familiarity with Swedish standards and Eurocodes.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Experience with rock engineering and modelling software such as Dips, Swedge, Unwedge, 3D Rock Slope, Leapfrog, and GeoSuite is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and ability to prepare clear technical reports in English.
• Strong teamwork skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently when required.
