Job summary

SYSTRA India is seeking a Geo-Tech cum Materials Engineer for highway projects. Based on-site, you will supervise geotechnical and materials testing, review sources and lab results, and ensure compliance with specifications.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and a decade of experience, including 6 years supervising testing and sub-soil investigations, with exposure to international financing in developing countries.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering and 10+ years of professional engineering experience.
• 6 years supervising testing, sub-soil investigations and evaluation of highway construction materials.
• Minimum 3 years on projects in developing countries with international financing.
• Experience monitoring mobilization of testing equipment per contract requirements.
• Knowledge of slope stabilization specifications for Indian hill roads.

Responsibilities

• Supervise geotechnical and materials-related aspects of highway works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Review material sources, mix designs, borrow areas, quarry sites, and laboratory test results.
• Monitor field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Inspect earthworks, embankments, subgrade, pavement layers, and slope stability for quality control.
• Identify geotechnical or material-related issues and recommend corrective measures on site.
• Verify materials and workmanship meet quality control requirements for approval and payment purposes.

Currently, we are bidding for Highway projects across India. The position of Geo-Tech cum Materials Engineer is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

• Supervise geotechnical and materials-related aspects of the highway works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Review material sources, mix designs, borrow areas, quarry sites, and laboratory test results submitted by the Contractor.
• Monitor field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Inspect earthworks, embankments, subgrade, pavement layers, and slope stability to ensure quality and suitability
• Identify geotechnical or material-related issues on site and recommend corrective measures
• Verify that materials and workmanship meet quality control requirements for approval and payment purposes

Profile/Skills

• He/She should have Degree in Civil Engineering
• He/She should have minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience including 6 years supervising the testing, sub-soil investigation works and evaluation of highway construction materials used in modern highway construction techniques.
• He/She should have minimum 3 years on projects of a comparable nature in developing countries with international financing.
• The candidate shall have experience in monitoring the mobilization of the testing equipment as per the specified testing requirements of the contracts.
• He/ She should have knowledge of specifications and standards for slope stabilization measures in hill roads projects relevant to India
