Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented General Manager – Commercial to lead and oversee key commercial and operational functions across the organization. The role will have broad responsibility for Commercial Operations, Sales Coordination, Procurement, Supply Chain, Treasury & Working Capital, Government Tenders, HR & Administration, Plant Coordination and Statutory/Regulatory Liaisoning.

The ideal candidate should possess strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of managing cross-functional operations in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the chemical / specialty chemical industry.

Key Responsibilities
1. Monitoring Sales / Supply Chain & Logistics Department
  • Oversee end-to-end commercial operations and sales coordination to ensure timely execution of customer requirements and product deliveries.
  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Production, Logistics, Finance and Customer Service teams to ensure smooth order-to-delivery operations.
  • Monitor sales order booking, order processing, billing verification, dispatch documentation and related commercial activities.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of commercial documentation to minimize revenue leakage and operational delays.
  • Drive effective Customer Relationship Management and coordinate with internal teams for timely customer collections.
  • Provide commercial support for customer sampling, technical requirements, quotations, documentation and other SCM-related activities.
  • Monitor customer commitments, order status, delivery schedules and commercial issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between the Corporate Office and manufacturing facilities for timely and efficient supply to customers.Monitor production planning, inventory availability, dispatches and logistics to ensure uninterrupted customer supplies.
  • Optimize resources, lead times and logistics costs while maintaining service levels.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the supply chain and implement corrective and preventive measures.
2. Coordinate with Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Department
  • Lead and guide the Procurement function for strategic sourcing of raw materials, packing materials, consumables, services and capital assets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and strategically important vendors.
  • Drive vendor evaluation, qualification, negotiation and performance monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, alternate sourcing, vendor consolidation and procurement optimization.
  • Lead commercial negotiations for major procurement contracts and ensure competitive pricing and favorable commercial terms.
  • Ensure procurement activities are aligned with business requirements, budgets, quality standards and internal policies.
  • Lead the end-to-end process for identifying, evaluating, preparing and submitting government and institutional tenders.
  • Review tender documents, eligibility criteria, commercial terms, contractual conditions and associated risks.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies for timely and accurate tender submissions.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and ensure appropriate pricing strategies to maximize business opportunities and profitability.
  • Assess commercial, contractual and financial risks associated with government and institutional contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with tender conditions, documentation requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Act as a key link between Corporate Office and manufacturing locations to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
  • Coordinate with Production, Stores, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Finance and HR teams for operational requirements.
  • Monitor availability and timely allocation of manpower, materials and other resources.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Support plant management in achieving operational efficiency, cost control and business objectives.
5. HR & Administration
  • Supervise general HR and administrative operations at the plant/corporate level as applicable.
  • Support recruitment, manpower deployment, employee engagement and performance management initiatives.
  • Ensure implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist management in resolving employee-related and administrative matters.
  • Finalization of Interview process.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable industrial regulations, statutory requirements, MIDC guidelines and manufacturing-related policies.
  • Liaise with government authorities, local bodies, MIDC officials and other regulatory agencies as required.
  • Represent the organization in high-level meetings with government officials and local authorities.
  • Handle and coordinate matters related to factory operations, land, statutory approvals, permissions and other government-related issues.
  • Proactively identify regulatory or operational bottlenecks and coordinate their resolution.
  • Provide strong cross-functional leadership across Commercial, Procurement, Supply Chain, Plant Coordination, Treasury and Administration.
  • Establish clear objectives, KPIs and performance standards for respective teams.
  • Develop MIS and management reports covering commercial performance, procurement, working capital, inventory, logistics and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization and business growth.
  • Work closely with senior management in developing and implementing strategic business initiatives.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, cost consciousness and operational excellence.
Candidate Profile
  • Graduate in Commerce; Post-Graduation or any other relevant.
  • 5–10+ years of relevant experience in Commercial, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance/Treasury or General Management.
  • Candidates with experience in manufacturing, preferably chemicals / specialty chemicals, will be strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial operations, procurement, treasury, banking, working capital and supply chain management.
  • Proven experience in handling government tenders, institutional business and commercial contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of vendor management, strategic sourcing and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience in coordinating with manufacturing plants and multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of statutory, industrial and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders, government authorities, vendors, customers and internal teams.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to manage multiple functions and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office / ERP systems / MIS and business reporting.
