UST is seeking a seasoned GCP Cloud Engineer to lead advanced cloud operations across GCP environments. The role focuses on incident resolution, performance optimization, security hardening, and automation, collaborating with architects, DevOps, security, and networking teams.

The ideal candidate has 4–10+ years in IT with 4–6+ years hands-on Google Cloud experience, and will handle high‑severity production issues escalated from L1/L2 teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• GCP infrastructure & operations management across projects, folders, and orgs.

• Monitor and respond to incidents using Cloud Monitoring/Logging; RCA for Sev1/Sev2.

Role Description

Experience 4–10+ years overall IT experience, with 4–6+ years of hands‑on Google Cloud Platform experience.

Role Summary We are looking for an experienced L3 GCP Cloud Engineer responsible for advanced cloud operations, troubleshooting, incident resolution, performance optimization, security, automation, and infrastructure support across GCP environments. The engineer will handle complex production issues escalated from L1/L2 teams and work closely with architects, application teams, DevOps, security, and networking teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. GCP Infrastructure & Operations

• Manage and troubleshoot GCP projects, folders, organizations and resource hierarchy.
• Support Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, App Engine and other GCP services.
• Perform L3 troubleshooting of production infrastructure issues.
• Analyze CPU, memory, disk, network and application performance issues.
• Manage VM lifecycle, machine types, disks, snapshots and images.
• Support high availability and DR environments.
• Perform capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.

2. Networking

• Strong hands‑on knowledge of:
• VPC and Shared VPC
• Subnets and firewall rules
• Cloud Router and Cloud NAT
• Private Google Access
• Private Service Connect
• Load Balancers
• Network Connectivity Center
• Hybrid connectivity between GCP, Azure and on‑premises

Responsibilities include troubleshooting:

• Routing issues
• Connectivity failures
• Firewall blocks
• Load‑balancer issues
• Inter‑region connectivity
• Hybrid network connectivity

3. IAM & Security

• Manage IAM roles, service accounts and custom roles.
• Troubleshoot permission and authentication issues.
• Implement least‑privilege access.
• Work with Workload Identity / Workload Identity Federation.
• Support organization policies and security controls.
• Manage Secret Manager and KMS.
• Investigate suspicious activity using Cloud Audit Logs.
• Work with Security Command Center and vulnerability findings.
• Support security hardening and compliance requirements.

4. Monitoring & Incident Management

• Hands‑on experience with Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging.
• Create and troubleshoot: o Dashboards o policies o Log‑based metrics o Uptime checks o Notification channels
• Analyze logs using Logs Explorer and advanced queries.
• Perform RCA for Sev1/Sev2 incidents.
• Prepare incident reports and corrective/preventive actions.
• Participate in on‑call and major incident management.
