Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced GCP Developer with deep expertise in building cloud-native applications, APIs, and microservices on Google Cloud Platform, with particularly strong hands-on experience in serverless development using Cloud Functions and Cloud Run. The ideal candidate is a hands-on application developer who writes clean, well-tested code, designs robust APIs, and builds scalable, event-driven services; experience building applications on AWS is also valued. You will own features end to end, provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and collaborate closely with product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications, RESTful APIs, and microservices on Google Cloud Platform.
• Build serverless applications using Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and App Engine.
• Develop event-driven services using Pub/Sub and Eventarc, integrating with Cloud SQL, Firestore, and BigQuery.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code in Python, Node.js, Java, or Go, following engineering best practices.
• Design data models and integrate applications with relational and NoSQL databases such as Cloud SQL, Firestore, and Spanner.
• Containerise and deploy microservices using Docker, Cloud Run, and GKE where appropriate.
• Implement application-level security, including authentication and authorisation (Identity Platform, OAuth2/JWT, IAM) and secure secrets handling via Secret Manager.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and DevOps teams to translate business requirements into application features, integrating with CI/CD pipelines such as Cloud Build or GitHub Actions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise application performance, scalability, and cost; mentor junior developers.

Required Skill & Qualification:

• 7+ years of software application development experience, including 5+ years building applications on GCP (strong AWS application development experience is also considered).
• Strong programming skills in Python, Node.js, Java, or Go.
• Deep hands-on expertise in serverless application development with Cloud Functions and Cloud Run.
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices using API Gateway or Apigee.
• Strong experience with GCP data services such as Cloud SQL, Firestore, Spanner, and BigQuery.
• Experience building event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub and Eventarc.
• Experience with containers (Docker, GKE, Cloud Run) and API security (OAuth2/JWT, IAM, Identity Platform).
• Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD tools such as Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Strong testing, debugging, and performance-optimisation skills, with experience in unit and integration testing frameworks.
• GCP certification (Professional Cloud Developer or equivalent) is preferred; excellent communication and mentoring skills.
