Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to migrate and design secure, production‑ready analytics on Google Cloud Platform. You will build batch and streaming pipelines, optimize BigQuery data models, and ensure governance, lineage, and regulatory readiness.

You will collaborate with business and analytics teams to translate data requirements into scalable solutions, while supporting post‑migration optimization and cost governance in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Data Engineering or Cloud Platform Engineering.
• 3+ years hands-on GCP experience.
• Proven BigQuery-based enterprise data platforms experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop batch and event-driven data pipelines on GCP.
• Build and optimize data warehouses and data marts using BigQuery.
• Develop and maintain workflows using Cloud Composer (Airflow).
• Implement event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub and Cloud Functions.

• Develop data ingestion frameworks to load data into Cloud Storage and BigQuery.
• Optimize BigQuery performance via partitioning, clustering, and query tuning.

Responsible for migrating a large-scale wholesale banking data mart from on-prem Teradata to Google BigQuery, including schema redesign, SQL conversion, and ETL/ELT orchestration.Designs performance‑optimized, cost‑efficient BigQuery data models while ensuring data accuracy, controls, lineage, and regulatory readiness. Collaborates with business and technical stakeholders to deliver secure, production‑ready analytics solutions with post‑migration support and optimization.

What You'll Do:
