Job summary

D. E. Shaw is seeking a senior software developer in Hyderabad to design, build, and own full-stack platforms spanning post-trade analytics, underwriting, modelling, and deal-sourcing workflows.

You'll work directly with the product manager, the desk in the US/UK, and our India office to translate requirements into scalable solutions. You will use Generative AI tools to accelerate development, mentor a small team, and contribute to a culture of clean coding and robust performance.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software development experience with robust Python experience.
• Front-end experience in ReactJS/Redux; full-stack capability.

Responsibilities

Job description

In this role, you will collaborate directly with the product manager, the desk (based in the US and UK), and the Financial Research team based in our India office to understand their workflows and requirements. You will design, build, and own full-stack web application platforms spanning post-trade analytics, underwriting and modelling, and deal-sourcing workflows, driving projects from requirements gathering and architecture through implementation, testing, and deployment. A core part of the role is developing a deep understanding of the desk's point of view so you can propose sound technical solutions to real business problems, while balancing pragmatic, quick-turnaround delivery with designs that endure as requirements evolve.

You will take end-to-end ownership of the systems you build and hold a high bar for both quality and timeliness, championing clean coding practices, thoughtful design reviews, and robust, performance applications. You will actively use generative AI tools to accelerate your own productivity across prototyping, coding, testing, and troubleshooting, and look for opportunities to apply GAI to unlock new capabilities and streamline business workflows. You will also partner with other infrastructure teams to deliver scalable solutions and contribute to a robust engineering culture through knowledge sharing and mentorship, with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role by next year.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical field, with an exceptional foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
• 5 years of software development experience, with robust hands-on programming experience in Python.
• Front-end development experience, especially in ReactJS/Redux, with the ability to deliver full-stack web applications.
• Good SQL skills to understand the existing infrastructure and build new tools.
• Technical and architecture design experience, with the ability to translate vague, high-level requirements into well-structured, coherent designs.
• Hands-on experience using generative AI / LLM-assisted developer tools to accelerate development and automation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• The drive to learn about the finance domain and related analytics.
• An interest in and aptitude for mentoring and leading a small team.

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience in the finance domain, particularly in private credit, fixed income, or capital markets.
• Experience owning projects end-to-end and driving them to completion.
