Job summary

Cognizant invites a Senior Java Backend engineer to lead backend initiatives and architect distributed services in a Unix environment. You will drive Java 8+ implementations with Spring Boot, J2EE components, and RESTful APIs, while guiding UI integration and performance optimizations.

The role requires deep hands-on experience with Maven/Nexus/Gradle, NoSQL databases, and optional AWS familiarity. You will collaborate with UX teams to shape the overall UI architecture and deployment strategies.

Qualifications

• Extensive Java backend experience with 8+ years in Java 8+.
• Strong SpringBoot and Spring Frameworks expertise.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on Unix/Linux environment development experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Java Backend engineer with hands-on experience (8 to 10+ years) in Java.
• Core Java knowledge is essential (Java 8+).
• Strong experience with SpringBoot, Spring Frameworks, and JUnit.
• Build distributed Java backend components and multi-threaded services.
• Develop Java server applications in Unix environments.
• Work with Maven, Nexus, and Gradle for builds.
• Apply web tech knowledge: J2EE, EJBs, servlets, JSP, Struts, XML.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs.
• Experience with MongoDB or NoSQL databases (nice to have).
• Knowledge of AWS (nice to have).
• Performance profiling and tuning using jProbe, JMeter, YourKit (nice to have).
• Collaborate with UX/VD to craft optimal UI designs.
• Design UI architecture, module layout, routing, and integration.
• Guide UI developers and manage UI development pace.
• Focus on performance optimization, deployment, and build strategy.
• Develop PoCs for advanced features and keep design/process improvements.

Role & responsibilities

• Senior Java Backend engineer with good hands on experience in Java, multi threading, no-sql/SQL, Kafka, Shell Scripting, REST API, building distributed components.
• Experience in development of Java server applications in a Unix environment
• Experience with software build tools such as Maven, Nexus, Gradle
• Solid knowledge of web technologies such as Java, J2EE (EJBs, servlets,JSP,Struts) Application Servers, Portal Applications and Standards and XML technologies.
• Experience in coding, designing and building RESTful APIs
