Job summary

Kaari Labs is building spatial commerce infrastructure for modern retail in Mumbai. We turn product images into interactive 3D and AR shopping experiences and offer tools to deploy 3D assets on the web.

We seek a software lead who will own large parts of Kaari's product, including the AI-native 3D editor, dashboards, and APIs. This hybrid, full-time role is based in Mumbai with flexible work-from-home options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong React, TypeScript, and modern frontend fundamentals.
• Experience building full-stack production-grade products, preferably with Next.js or similar frameworks.
• Sound architectural calls across APIs, schema design, caching, auth, and deployment.
• Experience making high-level technical decisions in a fast-paced startup.

Kaari Labs is building spatial commerce infrastructure for modern retail. We help brands turn product images into interactive 3D and AR shopping experiences, and an end-to-end solution that allows customers to build and deploy 3D assets on the web.

Our Vision

Our larger vision is to build 3D intelligence that enables AI to understand the physical world. This involves building foundational 3D AI models and workflows that can create and edit 3D assets and scenes in filmmaking, robotics, and manufacturing, on problems like virtual set designing, and product prototyping.

These are ambitious goals, and to get there sustainably we have started with e-commerce as a wedge to break into the market. Our current offering turns product pages into interactive 3D experiences, this includes 3D asset generation, an AI-native 3D editor, and delivering mixed reality shopping experiences on the web. Spatial commerce has a clear commercial value and fast feedback loops, making it the right entry point into broader 3D intelligence. This positions us to balance revenue alongside having a testbed for evaluating and experimenting on moonshot 3D AI problems.

Role Description

We're hiring a software lead who lives in the code. You will own large parts of Kaari's product: the AI-native 3D editor, dashboards, APIs, and set the technical defaults for how we ship. You should be comfortable making architectural calls and reviewing work. This is for someone who has already led development on a production system and wants to do that again in a small, fast-moving team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Mumbai, with flexibility for partial work from home.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong React, TypeScript, and modern frontend fundamentals
• Experience building full-stack production grade products, preferably with Next.js or similar frameworks. We don't care too much about AI slop demos.
• Solid software design and database fundamentals - you can make sound architectural calls across APIs, schema design, caching, auth, and deployment.
• Experience making high-level technical decisions and setting the engineering standard in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong product mindset: you bridge the gap between engineering and user needs, ensuring technical decisions drive real business value.
• Thoughtful use of AI: Everyone uses it, but we need you to understand every code change you make so that you are in control of your AI and not the other way round.
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Points

• Background or interest in 3D, graphics, AR/VR, or applied AI is a strong plus.
• Experience technically leading a small team or owning a product area.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment.
