Job summary

Recrew AI is hiring a founding engineering hire in Gurgaon to build the core backend for a consumer travel membership platform. You’ll own features from API design through to frontend integration when needed, spanning membership, payments, supply integrations and a WhatsApp-first AI layer.

You will collaborate directly with the founders on architecture and product direction, shipping end-to-end systems and driving early-stage impact in India.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience building and shipping production software.
• Hands-on experience with React/Next.js for front-end development.
• Strong know-how of relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent) and caching/queueing patterns.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs with production systems.
• Owned at least one production system—deployed, incident-handled and iterated.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain membership subscription lifecycle, payment flows and anti-abuse logic.
• Design and own supply integrations with low latency and inventory refresh.
• Develop WhatsApp-first AI conversational layer for discovery, booking and support.

An early-stage, founder-led consumer technology company building an AI-led travel rewards platform. The platform brings together travel discovery, rewards and booking into a single seamless experience.

It is designed around the complete travel journey — helping people discover destinations, unlock value and make better travel decisions, with a fintech layer spanning EMIs, credit cards and loans. The company is co-founded by two experienced operators: one a former SVP – Fintech & Payments at a leading Indian e-commerce giant, and the other a former SVP with leadership experience across consumer technology, marketing and monetisation at prominent tech companies.

The team is lean, high-ownership and intentionally entrepreneurial.

Position Overview

This is one of the founding engineering hires at the company, joining at the 0→1 stage to build the core technical infrastructure of a consumer travel membership platform. The role spans membership and payments, supply integrations, a WhatsApp-first AI conversational layer and card-partner fintech plumbing. You will own features end to end — backend-first, but expected to carry a feature all the way to the screen when needed.

Role & Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the membership subscription lifecycle, payment flows and anti-abuse logic underpinning the membership economy
• Design and own supply integrations — lowest-rate and best-availability handling, commission reconciliation and inventory-refresh pipelines
• Build the conversational AI layer: a WhatsApp-first agent handling discovery, booking and support with dynamic content generation
• Integrate card-partner banking APIs, rewards ledgers and compliance-grade plumbing for financial products
• Own production systems end to end — deploy, monitor, debug and iterate on live services used by paying members
• Carry features from backend design through to front-end screens when required to ship a complete experience
• Work directly with founders on architecture decisions, prioritisation and product direction

Must Have Criteria

• 3–5 years of experience building and shipping production software
• Hands‑on experience with React/Next.js for front‑end development
• Solid command of relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent), plus caching and queueing patterns
• Demonstrated experience integrating third‑party APIs with complex failure modes in production
• Has owned at least one production system — deployed it, handled incidents and iterated on it

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with subscriptions, credit cards, rewards programmes or travel products
• Has built on travel APIs — GDS, hotel aggregators or channel managers
• Has shipped on WhatsApp Business API or similar conversational surfaces
• Has been an early engineer (first 5–10 hires) at a consumer startup
• Genuine personal interest in credit card, hotel or airline rewards and travel
