Job summary

TravClan in Delhi is hiring for a backend-focused role. The position involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable services using Python or Node.js, with RESTful APIs and optional GraphQL. You will work on microservices, databases like PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB, and messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Node.js.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs; GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Hands-on with Redis and Elasticsearch.
• Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or SQS.
• Familiarity with Docker for containerization.
• Understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of security basics (JWT/OAuth).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using Python (Django/FastAPI/Flask) and Node.js (Express/NestJS).
• Build and optimize microservices architecture, ensuring high availability, performance, and fault tolerance.
• Design and manage relational and NoSQL database schemas (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Integrate third-party APIs and services (payment gateways, travel inventory/GDS systems, notification services).
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with strong unit/integration test coverage.
• Optimize application performance, including query optimization, caching strategies, async processing, and load handling.
• Implement message queues and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS) for asynchronous workflows.Collaborate with DevOps to containerize and deploy services (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design decisions.
• Debug and resolve production issues, working with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing).
• Ensure security best practices in API design, including authentication, authorization, input validation, and data protection.

Must have technical skills -

• Strong proficiency in Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask) or Node.js (Express/NestJS).
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience with relational databases like MySQL/PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Hands-on expertise with Redis and Elasticsearch.
• Experience with message queuing systems like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or SQS.
• Familiarity with Docker for containerization.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals.
• Good grasp of application security practices (OWASP basics, JWT/OAuth, input sanitization).
• Ability to write unit/integration tests (pytest, Jest, Mocha).
• Knowledge / hands-on experience of the following are added advantages:

- CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.

- Firebase integration and usage.

- API gateway and rate-limiting strategies.

- Real-time systems (WebSockets, Socket.io).

- Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and serverless architectures.
