Freelance Creative Designer & Video Editor
Company Description
At the Assistive Technology Foundation (ATF), we work with innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers building solutions that improve the lives of persons with disabilities. We are looking for a freelance creative professional — a designer, a video editor, or both — to support our communications team through a fast-paced, deliverable-driven engagement from September to December. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to work on real, high-visibility creative projects with a fast turnaround and direct impact.
Engagement Structure
- This is a time-bound freelance role for 4 months (September–December), with scope for extension based on performance and organisational need.
- Candidates may apply for one or both skill areas — Graphic Design or Video Editing — depending on their strengths. Please clearly specify which skill(s) you are applying for.
- Work will be organised around specific, timebound deliverables (e.g., a campaign asset, an event video, a set of social creatives) rather than open-ended hours.
- In-office presence at our Bengaluru office is preferred, to enable quick turnarounds and close collaboration with the communications and program teams.
- You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and short deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the skill area(s) you take up:
- Design: Social media creatives, reports, presentations, event collaterals, and marketing materials aligned with ATF's brand guidelines.
- Video: Edit videos for social media, events, campaigns, interviews, and storytelling content, including motion graphics, transitions, and audio syncing.
- Collaborate closely with the communications and program teams to translate briefs and ideas into impactful, on-brand content.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting agreed deadlines for each deliverable.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in graphic design and/or video editing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) or equivalent tools (Canva, Figma, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, etc.).
- A strong portfolio showcasing design and/or video work — applications without a portfolio may not be considered.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned deliverables, and turn around work quickly without compromising quality.
- Comfortable receiving and acting on feedback within tight timelines.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with social impact organisations, startups, nonprofits, or innovation ecosystems.
- Basic knowledge of animation and motion graphics.
- Familiarity with accessibility considerations in design and video content.
Assignment
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attempt one or both of the following tasks, based on the skill(s) they are applying for:
- Task 1 (Video Editing): Create a 40–90 second vertical (9:16) reel using stock footage that communicates how technology can alter a lived experience for persons with disability — focused on innovation and empowerment rather than a charity-driven narrative.
- Task 2 (Graphic Design): Design a 5–7 slide LinkedIn carousel raising awareness about Assistive Technology, covering what it is, why it matters, examples and applications, its impact, and a clear takeaway or call to action.
Full task briefs, requirements, and evaluation criteria will be shared with shortlisted candidates. Submissions are due within 48 hours of the assignment being shared.
