Job description

The role at a glance

We are hiring our first HR professional to build the HR function from the ground up. This is a founder's office calibre role: you will think like an owner, work closely with leadership, and set up the people systems that will carry the company through its next stage of growth. You must be as effective on the factory floor as you are in the boardroom.

Reports to: CEO

Team: Human Resources

Location: Sector 76, Gurugram

Type: Full-time

Experience: 3+ years in HR, including hands-on work with factory or blue-collar workforces

What you will do
Build the HR function from scratch
  • Design the HR structure, processes and calendar for the whole company, office and factory.
  • Set up HR systems: HRMS, attendance and biometric tracking, payroll, leave and employee records.
  • Create clean documentation: offer letters, appointment letters, contracts, ID cards and personnel files.
Own hiring end to end
  • Plan headcount with leadership and run every hire, from job descriptions and sourcing to interviews, offers and onboarding.
  • Build reliable sourcing channels for both corporate roles and skilled factory trades such as carpenters, polishers, upholsterers and metal workers.
  • Manage contractors and labour agencies where used, and make sure they meet our standards.
  • Create a structured onboarding and induction for each type of role.
Write policies and stay compliant
  • Draft the employee handbook and core policies: leave, attendance, conduct, travel, grievance, disciplinary and POSH.
  • Ensure full compliance with Indian labour laws and the new Labour Codes, including the Factories Act, PF, ESI, minimum wages, bonus, gratuity and contract labour rules.
  • Maintain statutory registers and filings, and handle inspections and audits with confidence.
Manage performance and people
  • Set up goal setting and performance reviews for office staff, and productivity and skill tracking for factory workers.
  • Design salary structures, increments and incentive schemes that fit each workforce.
  • Build training and upskilling paths, especially for factory craftspeople.
Lead the factory workforce relationship
  • Be a visible, trusted presence on the factory floor, and handle worker concerns, grievances and discipline fairly and firmly.
  • Manage attendance, overtime, shift planning and absenteeism in close coordination with production heads.
  • Drive safety, welfare and working conditions, and keep worker retention high.
  • Prevent and resolve disputes before they escape, and handle any labour issues with maturity.
Shape the culture
  • Build engagement, recognition and communication that reach every employee, whatever their role or language.
  • Handle exits, full and final settlements and exit insights.
  • Report people metrics to the CEO: headcount, attrition, hiring speed, attendance and cost.
Who you are
Must have
  • 3+ years in HR, with experience across the full HR cycle: hiring, policy, payroll, compliance, performance and employee relations.
  • At least 2 years managing blue-collar or factory workforces in manufacturing, or a similar setting.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Indian labour law and statutory compliance for factories, including PF, ESI, the Factories Act and the Labour Codes.
  • Experience setting up HR processes or systems where little existed before, ideally in a growing or founder-led company.
  • Comfortable speaking with workers on the shop floor in Hindi, and with leadership and candidates in English.
  • Calm, fair and firm in tough situations: grievances, disciplinary matters and disputes.
  • An owner's mindset: you take initiative, solve problems end to end and do not wait for instructions.
Good to have
  • An MBA or PG diploma in HR, or a degree in labour law or industrial relations.
  • Experience implementing an HRMS and digital attendance or payroll tools.
  • Exposure to skill development programmes, apprenticeships or craft training.
  • Prior work in a founder's office, startup or consulting role.
What we offer
  • A rare chance to build an HR function from a blank page and make it your own.
  • Direct access to the CEO and a real voice in how the company grows.
  • The scope to grow into Head of HR and build your own team.
  • Competitive compensation, matched to experience.
