Farmioc is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with banks, NBFCs, insurers, and other financial institutions within the agriculture and commodity ecosystem. You will translate customer needs into practical tech solutions using Farmioc datasets, from discovery to production.

You will design data pipelines, analytics, and AI-enabled features, ensuring robust deployments and clear customer value. This role emphasizes client-facing delivery and cross-functional collaboration.

About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work directly with banks, NBFCs, insurers, and other financial institutions that finance, insure, or support the agriculture and commodity ecosystem.

You will understand customer workflows and data, build practical solutions using Farmioc's agricultural and commodity intelligence, and take those solutions from problem discovery through implementation and production.

What You'll DoCustomer & Solution Discovery

• Work with business, data, and technology stakeholders to understand customer workflows, data, and technical requirements.
• Translate business problems into concrete solutions such as early-warning signals, underwriting inputs, collateral monitoring, portfolio analysis, and market intelligence.

Engineering & Data

• Build customer-facing solutions using Python, SQL, databases, REST services, and data-processing workflows.
• Integrate customer data with Farmioc datasets covering commodity prices, production, yield, weather, supply, demand, and trade information.
• Develop data pipelines, analytical workflows, dashboards, scripts, and application components.
• Prototype, validate, and take successful solutions into production.

Analytics & AI

• Develop signals and analysis for lending, commodity-finance, and insurance risk using agricultural, commodity, weather, and customer portfolio data.
• Apply LLMs, RAG, or AI agents where they provide clear business value, such as research assistants over market reports or automated portfolio commentary.
• Validate data, analytical results, and AI outputs before they are used in customer workflows.

Deployment & Support

• Work with customer technology and security teams to test, deploy, and validate solutions.
• Support on-premise or private-cloud deployments where customers require it.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, data, database, integration, and performance issues.
• Document integrations, workflows, technical decisions, and operational requirements.

Product & Engineering Collaboration

• Identify recurring customer requirements that can become reusable Farmioc product capabilities.
• Evaluate whether requirements should be addressed through existing Farmioc capabilities, customer-specific solutions, or product enhancements.
• Share customer feedback and implementation learnings with product and engineering teams.

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, implementation engineering, data engineering, AI engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with experience working with databases and data-processing workflows.
• Experience building and deploying production applications, data solutions, or analytical systems.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions and work directly with stakeholders.
• Solid debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working with ambiguous requirements, changing priorities, and customer-driven problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with banks, NBFCs, fintechs, insurers, or other financial institutions.
• Understanding of agricultural lending, Kisan Credit Card portfolios, priority-sector lending, commodity finance, warehouse-receipt finance, or crop insurance.
• Experience working with financial, agricultural, commodity, market, or economic datasets.
• Familiarity with enterprise data platforms, batch/file-based integrations, data governance, or customer security requirements.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB, dashboards, LLMs/RAG, AI agents, Docker, cloud, or CI/CD.

Example Customer Problems

• Build an early-warning view of an agricultural loan book by district using portfolio, production, weather, and commodity-price signals.
• Monitor warehouse-receipt collateral against PriceHub price forecasts and flag loans where collateral cover falls below a defined threshold.
• Combine crop-yield and weather inputs to support crop-insurance risk analysis for schemes such as PMFBY.
